Description
Position Title : Shipping Coordinator
Location : Ontario, California
Summary : The Shipping Coordinator is responsible in overseeing inbound and outbound packages for transportation.
Position Focus & Opportunity :
Supports the Logistics Manager in running the shipping and receiving department as needed
Make a daily round of the warehouse & slab; speak to the operators about any issues or safety concerns
Work with IFP and Mill Operations to update the Mill Production / Trim schedule Monitor and assist with grade structure, trim needs, customer needs, and leftover trims
Review inventories along with upcoming production to create the shipping schedule
Work with customers on their “Urgent” needs and appointments
Help ensure that low-cost transportation modes are being utilized when possible
Ensure that loads are shipped as efficiently as possible (T-Loads, Double stacks, etc.)
Ensure that loads are shipped securely and damage free
Assist with set-up of new transportation load patterns & routing
Assist with oversight of on-site trucking operation
Orders in railcars daily
Help manage demurrage cost
Assist with management of Shipping and OCC Slab including any related issues
Get copies of B / L’s, ETA’s, delivery information for IFP as needed
Assist Production Department to assure quality standards are met for all outgoing product Assist with management of off-quality and hold rolls Coordinate loads for rewind and then process upon return to mill
Oversees shipping and receiving mobile equipment training
Create work-orders for equipment that requires replacement or maintenance
Weekly : Complete Safety Observations (# TBD)
Monthly : Assist with physical inventory of both Rolls & OCC Prepare KPI Reports as directed
Able to be on call as needed (mill is a 24 / 7 / 365 day operation)
Attend Hazardous Waste / DOT training yearly
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
What we're looking for :
Minimum 3 years' experience as a shipping coordinator
Strong time- management, organization, and prioritize skills with the ability to multitask and meet multiple concurrent deadlines
Ability to learn various Company software packages
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products
Solid written and verbal communication skills; interact well with all levels of organization.
