Shift Supervisor – Richmond Operations | Afternoon Shift

Location: Richmond, BC
Position Type: Full-time
Schedule: Monday to Friday, approximately 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Some flexibility may be required based on operational needs.
Salary Range: $65,–$75, annually, plus benefits and RRSP matching

Commercial Logistics Inc. is hiring a hands-on Shift Supervisor to lead afternoon shift operations at our Richmond facility. This is a stable, full-time leadership role for someone who can keep warehouse activity, transportation priorities, people, freight, equipment, and daily workflow moving in the right direction.

This hybrid role sits at the centre of our warehouse and transportation operation. You will support frontline teams, coordinate day-to-day activity, and help ensure our Direct Store Delivery operation runs safely, accurately, and efficiently. If you enjoy practical problem-solving, coaching employees, and making a visible impact on daily performance, this role offers the opportunity to do that every day.

Why Join Commercial Logistics?

This role offers more than a list of daily tasks. You will be joining a well-established logistics operation with the structure, systems, and support needed to perform effectively and make an impact.

You can expect:

  • A consistent weekday afternoon schedule with full-time Monday-to-Friday hours, generally 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with some flexibility required from time to time
  • Competitive compensation and benefits, including health and dental coverage after 3 months with employer-paid premiums for single and family coverage, RRSP matching after 1 year, and a safety boot allowance
  • A practical, hands-on leadership role where your decisions directly influence daily performance
  • A structured operating environment with established processes, clear expectations, and modern logistics systems
  • The opportunity to support and develop frontline employees through coaching, communication, and follow-through
  • Exposure to process improvement and operational change, including new systems, routing tools, and workflow improvements
  • A team-oriented workplace where warehouse, transportation, dispatch, and operations leaders work closely together

About the Role

As Shift Supervisor, you will oversee afternoon shift activity across both warehouse and transportation functions. You will coordinate labour, workflow, equipment, dispatch priorities, and issue resolution to ensure orders are picked, loaded, dispatched, and completed on time.

This is an active leadership role. You will be present on the floor, engaged with employees, connected with dispatch activity, and ready to make decisions as priorities shift. The right person will bring a balance of organization, urgency, sound judgment, and strong communication.

What You’ll Lead

You will be responsible for keeping daily operations organized and moving, including:

  • Coordinating warehouse workflow, labour allocation, outbound loads, and load accuracy
  • Supporting dispatch activity, route execution, yard checks, and equipment tracking
  • Resolving operational issues such as delays, missed appointments, breakdowns, discrepancies, and shifting priorities
  • Providing clear direction, coaching, and support to frontline employees
  • Monitoring daily performance and helping maintain safe, consistent, and efficient operating practices
  • Working with operations leadership to support process improvements, system changes, and service expectations

Systems and Tools You’ll Work With

Our Richmond operation uses technology and process discipline to support accuracy, visibility, and efficiency. Depending on the activity, you may work with:

  • TruckMate TMS for dispatch and trip management
  • Automated routing software for route planning
  • Electronic signature capture for deliveries
  • Time and attendance systems
  • Warehouse, transportation, and order management systems

Who This Role Is For

You may be a strong fit if you:

  • Have experience leading people in a warehouse, transportation, distribution, or logistics environment
  • Stay calm, organized, and decisive when priorities change
  • Communicate clearly with employees, drivers, customers, and internal teams
  • Are comfortable making practical decisions with the information available
  • Take ownership of problems instead of waiting for someone else to solve them
  • Care about safety, accuracy, accountability, and consistent follow-through
  • Enjoy improving processes, supporting change, and helping teams work more effectively

Qualifications

We are looking for a combination of practical experience, leadership ability, and operational judgment. Strong candidates will bring:

  • Supervisory or lead hand experience in warehouse, logistics, transportation, distribution, or a related environment
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word
  • The ability to prioritize work, adjust resources, and support employees through changing operational demands
  • Experience with logistics business systems such as TMS, WMS, OMS, or equivalent platforms

Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Assets, but not required:

  • Experience with TruckMate, Samsara, Kronos Time & Attendance, or similar systems
  • Experience supporting process change, system implementation, workflow improvement, or operational change management
