We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant with a minimum of 5+ years of accounting experience to join an established company in the furniture manufacturing and distribution industry. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting day-to-day accounting operations and month-end closing processes across the company's subsidiaries, helping maintain accurate financial records and support ongoing business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Handle and operate daily accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank transactions.
Record and reconcile credit card expenses and cash expenses transactions accurately and on a timely basis.
Perform bank, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations.
Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepayments, accounting adjustments and reconcile intercompany transactions across different subsidiaries.
Process bi-weekly or monthly payroll accurately and on a timely basis. Reconcile payroll accounts and investigate and resolve discrepancies. Prepare payroll-related reports and supporting schedules for month-end and year-end closing.
Assist with and take ownership of the month-end closing process, including account reconciliations and financial reporting.
Review general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies or unusual transactions.
Prepare financial schedules and supporting documentation for monthly reporting.
Maintain accurate and organized accounting records in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
Prepare, review, and submit government remittances and filings, including HST, WSIB, EHT, and other applicable statutory obligations.
Perform other accounting and finance duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and general ledger processes.
Proven experience with month-end closing and financial reconciliations.
Hands-on experience with an ERP/accounting system.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and data analysis.
Good understanding of accounting systems and related IT applications and processes.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to identify discrepancies and investigate their root causes.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Experience working with Microsoft Dynamic 365, AX 2009, or QuickBooks.
Experience working with integrations between ERP systems and other business applications.
Professional accounting designation or progress toward a designation (e.g., CPA) is an asset.
