We are looking for a Senior Chemist to join the Processing Technical Services team.
This industrial chemist role contributes to mine planning and exploration beneficiation and productivity of the processing plants, and quality control by ensuring precision and accuracy of the results supplied by the Analytical Services team.

Reporting to the Superintendent Analytical Services & Pellet Dev. and working in an exciting and unique environment within the Iron Ore Company of Canada, you will be responsible for :
Maintaining quality control for the Analytical Services team;
Providing accurate and precise chemical assay to various stakeholders in the value chain;
Conduct work that requires judgment in individual evaluation, selection and adaptation;
Modifying techniques and procedures as required.
What you’ll bring
Post secondary education in a relevant field (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Process Technology);
A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience as an Industrial Chemist or in a mineral processing laboratory setting;
Previous experience working with XRF and XRD technologies, sample preparation, and laboratory quality systems;
Awareness of laboratory safety protocols;
Bilingualism (French & English) will be considered an asset;
Ability to provide direction and work with a team;
Competency with laboratory information management software and adaptability to learn new applications that support the laboratory quality control;

We are a leading North American producer and exporter of premium iron ore pellets and high-grade concentrate with average iron grades greater than 66%. With a team of over 2,700 employees, IOC is committed to providing value and continuity for our customers, employees, communities and shareholders through our unique mine to port approach, taking advantage of our full integration and wholly owned infrastructure to deliver our high-quality concentrate and pellets to our customers across the globe.
IOC’s operations include a mine with five operational pits, a concentrator and a pelletizing plant located near Labrador City in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. We also operate a wholly-owned 418 km railway, the Quebec North Shore and Labrador Railway (QNS&L), that links our Labrador operations to Company-owned port facilities in Sept-Iles.
