Role Profile :
Reporting directly to the Chief Communications and Corporate Affairs Officer the Director Corporate Affairs plays a pivotal leadership role in shaping Ontario Healths relationships and communicationspublicly with government and other partners and within the healthcare system. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced and strategic communicator to have an impact while building relationships that matter : with patients policymakers media and health system partners across Ontario.
As the director behind Ontario Healths reputation and engagement approach you will bring clarity and alignment to complex issues ensure effective collaboration with government and oversee a system-wide best in class approach to patient family and stakeholder engagement. This is an ideal role for a sophisticated leader who thrives at the intersection of relationship management communications public policy and health system transformation.
Key Responsibilities :
Leverage broad-based knowledge of the health care environment and key stakeholders (media patients providers regulators policymakers community and industry) to provide communications engagement and relationship management advice and counsel to effectively manage Ontario Healths reputation.
Monitor major policy legislative and political developments that may impact Ontario Health or that can be leveraged to build partnerships and drive results.
Implements the engagement framework and develops ongoing performance measures and reporting on corporate engagement strategy.
Lead build and champion an aligned corporate approach for stakeholder and patient and family engagement consistent with the Connecting Care Act.
Work as part of senior portfolio team to support coordinated external communications.
Lead team responsible for maintaining and coordinating an organization-wide view of health system issues and media and other communications including planning researching and developing strategic / complex. communication materials such as news releases statements external memos and presentations.
Strategic support for CEO engagements strategic engagement support for clinical senior leadership.
Provides guidance to portfolios and regions as they develop stakeholder engagement strategies and patient / family engagement approaches in alignment with enterprise-wide engagement objectives.
Develop and implement team structure and processes required to engage with stakeholders including patients and families as well as media; working collaboratively and effectively with government ministries to ensure protocols are followed.
Lead the operational support for CEO engagement forums : Patient and Family Advisor Committee and the Health System Advisory Council.
Identifies builds and maintains effective relationships with colleagues and partners across Ontario Health and externally including government ministry communications teams and staff in Ministers offices.
Direct a team of communications / external relations professionals facilitating teamwork and a customer-focused approach to advising and service delivery
Act as an advisor and consultant to senior team members on communications support and management of government relationships stakeholder engagement and reputational impacts on a wide range of issues.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
A minimum of 10 years of progressive communications public policy advocacy stakeholder engagement and leadership experience;
Graduate level degree preferred undergraduate degree required . Graduate degree in Public Policy Political Science Journalism;
Leadership experience working in a Ministers Office or with the Ontario government;
Experience working in a health-care environment preferred with expertise in media and issues management;
Experience advising influencing and delivering strategic communication services and advice to senior leaders is required;
Critical analysis strategic problem-solving negotiating and planning skills;
Outstanding writing ability creativity and oral communication skills;
Excellent leadership teamwork and collaborative skills highly motivated and results focused.
Knowledge and Skills
Excellent understanding of Ontarios public policy environment and the legislative process;
Demonstrated and highly experienced at managing media issues and crisis communications required;
Proven expertise in developing and implementing meaningful and impactful engagement strategies with key stakeholders;
Strong understanding of the health system policy and political environment;
Ability to synthesize complex / sensitive material to craft persuasive communications required;
Ability to develop execute and evaluate multifaceted communications and social media programs required;
Demonstrated experience managing conflicting priorities and delivering within strict timelines;
Strong executive presence with the ability to lead tough conversations navigate complex issues and influence decision making;
Excellent interpersonal and relationship management including sound judgment tact and diplomacy with ability to gain cooperation and build trust as a means of influencing outcomes;
Ability to work in a self-directed and independent manner as well as within a team required;
Proven ability to mentor and coach team members to grow into emerging leaders required ;
Ability to deal with ambiguity and frequent changes;
Fluency in French considered an asset.

Responsabilits principales :
Mettre profit une vaste connaissance du milieu de la sant et des intervenants cls (mdias patients fournisseurs organismes de rglementation dcideurs politiques communaut et secteur priv) pour fournir des conseils stratgiques en communication en engagement et en gestion des relations afin de protger et de promouvoir la rputation dOntario Sant.
Surveiller les dveloppements majeurs en matire de politiques de lgislation et denjeux politiques pouvant avoir un impact sur Ontario Sant ou reprsenter des occasions de partenariat.
Mettre en uvre le cadre dengagement et dvelopper des indicateurs de rendement et des rapports pour appuyer la stratgie corporative dengagement.
Diriger et promouvoir une approche corporative cohrente de lengagement des parties prenantes des patients et des familles conformment larticle 44 de la Loi visant amliorer les soins de sant (Connecting Care Act) .
Travailler en troite collaboration avec lquipe de direction pour assurer la coordination des communications externes.
Diriger une quipe responsable de surveiller les enjeux du systme de sant les mdias et autres communications incluant la planification la recherche et le dveloppement de documents de communication stratgiques et complexes (communiqus dclarations notes externes prsentations etc.).
Fournir un soutien stratgique aux interventions du PDG et aux engagements des cadres cliniques suprieurs.
Offrir une orientation stratgique aux portefeuilles et aux rgions dans le dveloppement de leurs stratgies dengagement avec les parties prenantes et les patients / familles en cohrence avec les objectifs dengagement organisationnels.

Formation et exprience :
