New Professional Support may receive up to a maximum of seven steps for relevant occupational experience which is $ 89,704.12 annually.ResponsibilitiesWhat you will be doing…You will provide career, academic and personal counselling, as well as guidance and support for students in the Adult Learning Program, leading to the Nova Scotia High School Graduation Diploma for Adults.You will engage in student intake assessment, data management, orientation and retention support services as you collaborate with both the School of Access and Student Services departmental teams, as well as with support agencies.Under leadership of the Dean, School of Access, Education and Language, you will have a direct reporting relationship with the Academic Chair and a functional relationship with the Manager of Student Services at the Campus level, working closely with faculty of the Adult Learning Program and collaborating regularly with staff members in Student Services.QualificationsQualifications and Occupational Experience : Master's degree in Clinical Social Work, Psychology or Counselling or other Master's degree enabling registration with one of the provincial regulatory bodies noted below. Registered with or undergoing candidacy process with the relevant regulatory body; Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists (NSCCT), Nova Scotia College of Social Workers (NSCSW); Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology (NSBEP)).You have a minimum of five years post counselling credential relevant occupational experience counselling adults in a variety of specialities, (e.g. academic, career and personal), including working with post-secondary and or secondary students.Occupational experience that includes working with Adults in an Educational setting would be considered an asset.You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, MS TeamsYou are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experienceYou have experience in training / facilitation preparation, delivery and evaluation, specifically experience with presentations either face to face or online with appropriate technology.You have experience supporting / providing service to students and prospective studentsRelevant Skills and KnowledgeYou demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and anti-racismYou possess excellent interpersonal skills that enable you to interact with a diversity of people and support resolution of issuesYou are known for your superior customer service skills and can create a relationship of trust beyond the immediate interactionYour superb team working skills enable you to contribute positively to a team environmentYou have specific technical occupational knowledge and skill in PeopleSoft or other HR tracking softwareYou are known for your problem solving and critical thinking skillsYou are a strong communicatorYou possess excellent coordination skills specifically related to data tracking, client file management; scheduling and facilitating individual or group information sessions.You have proven records and information management skills and abilitiesYou are dedicated to life-long learning and prepared to engage in relevant professional development.SkillsCounsellingArrayAbout Nova Scotia Community CollegeWe value Diversity and InclusionThe College values diversity and inclusion and is committed to employment equity.
