For as long as the “sun shines, the grass grows and the rivers flow”, we remain proud and humbly determined.Direct ReportsClerks, servers and attendants.OverviewSaulteau First Nations is seeking a motivated and experienced General Manager for the General Store at Moberly Lake, BC. The General Manager will oversee the store development and operations including human resources, financial functions, and supply chain management. The role will also, in collaboration with the Asset Management team, provide project management and oversight of new build and expansion initiatives including but not limited to a food store, gas station and café. The role will actively contribute to food sovereignty and sustainability initiatives in collaboration with other First Nations initiatives.What You’ll Be DoingOperations Management, including : Develop and implement strategies to increase sales and profitability of the retail store.Study market research and trends, as well as community feedback, to determine consumer demand, potential sales volumes and effect of competitors' operations on sales.Plan budgets, authorize expenditures, and monitor and report on revenues.Supervise and manage the overall operation of the retail store, including inventory management, merchandising, and customer service.Plan, direct and evaluate the operations of establishments engaged in wholesale and retail sales or of departments in such establishments.In collaboration with the Human Resources department, recruit, train, and manage staff, including setting performance goals and providing ongoing feedback and coaching.Analyze financial reports and market trends to make data-driven decisions and adjust business plans accordingly.Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal laws and regulations.Collaborate with other department heads and executives to develop and execute company-wide initiatives and goals.Create and maintain a positive and customer-focused culture within the retail store to drive customer loyalty and retention. Evaluate and improve customer service and respond to customer requests and issues. Determine merchandise and services to be sold, and implement price and credit policies.Establish and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and other business partners to ensure the store has access to quality products and services at competitive prices.Ideal Qualifications and ExperiencePreference will be given to candidates with bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field. Equivalencies will be considered.Proven experience as a retail general manager or in a similar executive position.Strong leadership and management skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.Ability to analyze financial data and create reports.Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.In-depth knowledge of retail operations and industry trends.Ability to develop and implement effective sales strategies and marketing plans.Criminal Record Check and Financial Checks, with results acceptable to SFN.Ideal Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesSkilled in developing an operational plan to achieve financial goals and communicate these goals to the Executive and the store team, including : Skilled in ensuring a solid execution of in-store selling activities, marketing programs and expansion.Skilled in developing a community relations plan for the store that ensures the development and maintenance of long-term business relationships with customers, community stakeholders, and local leadership.Skilled in the use of technology and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.Skilled at problem-solving and decision-making, particularly regarding contentious and sensitive issues.Skilled in managing all aspects of the store’s daily operations and expansion of business opportunities.Excellent communication skills, including the ability to negotiate and collaborate with multiple parties to reach mutually agreeable outcomes; ability to deliver persuasive presentations to diverse audiences.Experience in developing a strategic business plan aligned with the Saulteau First Nations mission and vision.Knowledge related to store operations, competition with outside fly-in shopping, and the economic factors impacting the community.Thorough knowledge of accounting practices within a First Nation environment, including grant and fund accounting, is an asset.Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.Ability to establish and maintain productive and trusting working relationships.Ability to perform with integrity, courtesy, tact, and diplomacy even in the face of stress or demanding workplace conditions.Ability to prepare high-level written summaries and recommendations for review and decision-making.Work ConditionsOn site at Moberly Lake, BC.Working Monday to Friday and overtime, as required, to fulfill responsibilities of the position.A Satisfactory Criminal Records Check and a Driver's License is required.Total CompensationSalaried position (exempt from overtime pay).Salary range : $84,465 - $106,692 annually.We offer employer-paid health and dental benefits and a 5% RPP matching, in addition to pension enrollment.Aligned with the leave policy, various leave options to promote work / life balance including : Three (3) weeks of annual leave.Ten (10) days of sick leave.Eight (8) days of personal leave.One (1) week of cultural leave.Fourteen (14) statutory holidays.Mandatory professional development reimbursement of $3000 / year is provided.An annual Criminal Records Check and a Driver's License is required.Priority HiringSaulteau First Nations is committed to the development and advancement of membership.
