Description :

The Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy in the Faculty of Arts & Science at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenured position at the rank of Professor and will serve as the Director of the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy, with an anticipated start date of January 1, 2026. The appointment as Director will be for a 5-year-term, renewable following a favourable review.

Applicants must have earned a PhD degree or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant field, and have a distinguished academic track record of teaching and scholarly achievement that will further increase credibility and respect within the academic community. The successful candidate will have demonstrated accomplishments in an administrative role in a university environment that demonstrates an understanding of effectively managing risk, finances, competing priorities, and balancing operational needs in a complex and decentralized academic setting.

In addition, the successful candidate must demonstrate the following :

  • an established international reputation and will be expected to sustain and lead innovative and independent research, and to maintain an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program.
  • experience promoting excellence in research, teaching, public engagement and innovative partnerships.
  • experience with, or an interest in, institutional fundraising and the ability to participate actively in fundraising and the development of strategic alliances.
  • entrepreneurial skills and strong communication skills and the ability to interact successfully with multiple constituencies and stakeholders and promote the School both internally and externally.

The candidate will be responsible for expanding the School’s research capacity, international exposure, public profile and fundraising capabilities as well as initiating and developing positive and sustainable relationships, both within the School and the University, and between the School and the local, national and global community.

Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence which can be demonstrated by a record of sustained high-impact contributions and publications in top-ranked and field relevant journals, the submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, and other noteworthy activities that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the discipline.

Evidence of excellence in teaching will be provided through teaching accomplishments, the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application (with required materials outlined below).
