Under the direction of the Principal or designate and in cooperation with the School Office Administrator, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative and secretarial support within a school setting to ensure a positive and safe learning environment for students, staff, and the public. Duties include, but are not limited to : preparing and typing correspondence, completing reports and documents, maintaining files and records, and answering or directing inquiries according to board / school policy.
This position is 17.5 hours per week, mornings; schedule to be determined by the principal.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Two-year College Diploma or equivalent, including secretarial courses and up to five years of relevant secretarial experience in a school or related setting.
- Excellent secretarial and bookkeeping skills, with proven time management, scheduling, and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in keyboarding, computer, and word processing, including programs such as Word, email systems, Accounting, Spreadsheet, and Database applications. Experience with SDS, Power School, and e-Funds is desirable.
- Familiarity with office equipment such as photocopiers, fax machines, public address systems, and multi-line phone systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for dealing effectively with students, parents, staff, administration, and the public.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Initiative and leadership qualities.
- Knowledge of school policies on attendance, safe arrival procedures, medication administration, kindergarten and student registration, and OSR maintenance.
- First Aid Certification is an asset.
