Title: Program Representative – Personal Trainer Department: Recreation Status: Casual, Minimum 5 hours/week Rate of Pay: $32.92 per hour Settlement Allowance: $11.48 per hour Union Status: Unionized Closing Date: Open until filled Reporting to the Fitness Centre Coordinator, the Program Representative – Personal Trainer provides individualized one-on-one fitness training to clients with a wide range of ages, abilities, and fitness goals.
The Personal Trainer is responsible for assessing client needs, developing individualized exercise programs, leading training sessions, demonstrating proper exercise techniques, and providing ongoing coaching and motivation.
The position requires the ability to modify and adapt exercises and programs meet individual needs while ensuring safe and effective training practices.
The Personal Trainer will maintain a professional, social inclusive, and supportive training environment and promote healthy, active lifestyles through quality fitness and wellness services.
Minimum Level of Experience/Qualifications: Certified personal trainer or Coaching certification or ability to achieve within the first month of employment (e.g., ISSA, CanFitPro PTS, ACE, CSEP-CPT, NSCA-CPA, or equivalent.
Standard First Aid and CPR-C.
Experience creating individualized fitness programs.
Experience working with a wide range of clients and fitness abilities.
Customer service experience.
Excellent communication skills.
Assets: Specialized certification (e.g., Olympic lifting, Yoga, HIIT, etc.) Ability to motivate clients and provide excellent customer service.
Additional Requirements: Security • Due to the confidentiality associated with this position a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
Indigenous Language • Ability to speak Inuktitut and/or French are considered definite assets.
Medical • A TB (Tuberculosis) Test is required for this position.
Equivalencies that include a combination of education and experience may be considered As per Article 23 of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement, priority will be given to Nunavut Land Claim Beneficiaries who meet the criteria.
All relevant certifications are required at time of application.

L’entraîneur personnel doit évaluer les besoins du client, élaborer des programmes d’exercice individualisés, diriger des séances d’entraînement, démontrer des techniques d’entraînement appropriées et être une source continue d’encadrement et de motivation.
Ce poste exige la capacité à modifier et adapter des exercices et des programmes pour répondre aux besoins individuels tout en assurant des pratiques d’entraînement efficaces et sécuritaires.
L’entraîneur personnel maintiendra un environnement d’entraînement professionnel, inclusif sur le plan social et de soutien et fera la promotion de styles de vie sains et actifs par des services de conditionnement physique et de bien-être de qualité.
Niveau minimal d’expérience/de qualifications : Entraîneur personnel certifié ou certification des entraîneurs ou capacité à l’obtenir au cours du premier mois d’emploi (p.
ex., AISS, PTS de CanfitPro, ACE, EPC-SCPE, NSCA-CPT ou l’équivalent).
Secourisme général et RCR-C.
Expérience dans l’élaboration de programmes de conditionnement physique individuels.
Expérience de travail avec une clientèle variée de tous les niveaux de capacité physique.
Expérience en service à la clientèle.
Excellente aptitude à communiquer.
Atouts : Certification spécialisée (p.
ex., haltérophilie, yoga, entraînement par intervalles à haute intensité, etc.).
Capacité à motiver les clients et à leur offrir un excellent service à la clientèle.
Exigences supplémentaires : Sécurité • En raison du niveau de confidentialité associé à ce poste, une vérification du casier judiciaire et de l’habilitation à travailler auprès de personnes vulnérables est requise.
Langue autochtone • Capacité à parler l’inuktitut ou le français constitue un atout majeur.
Médical • Test de dépistage de la tuberculose requis pour ce poste.
Une combinaison jugée équivalente d’études et d’expérience pourrait être prise en compte.
