You can contribute to that success while building your career.Nature and ScopeThe Program Coordinator is accountable for the coordination and administration of quality adult programs and services for First Nations Learners. This position will positively promote and create an environment that demonstrates SIIT's vision, mission, and mandate.General AccountabilityThe Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and managing the training initiatives with First Nation Communities and SIIT locations across Saskatchewan. The incumbent is responsible for the coordination of programs from start to finish, including administration and financial budgeting, program development, monitoring, as well as, recruitment and management of instructors and students, and completing evaluations. Specific AccountabilitiesThe Program Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting and onboarding new instructors and supervising programs, staff, and students to ensure effective delivery and continuous improvement. This role includes the evaluation of existing programs, recommending strategies for enhancement, and proactively seeking new programs and professional development opportunities. In collaboration with the Dean, the Program Coordinator will assess and adjust current programs and services to better meet the evolving needs of students, clients, and communities. Additionally, the position requires travel to assigned program locations or other approved work sites as part of the responsibilities. This position includes the following broad range of accountabilities:Coordination, Monitoring & Academic Administration Identify, initiate, and support the coordination of various training programs for the Institute, including brokered and community-purchased programsAssist in the coordination of work experience practicums and monitor student success in collaboration with instructors, where applicableParticipate in activities that promote the programs and the InstitutionEstablish and maintain program advisory committees comprised of industry professionals and stakeholders to inform improvements and strategies that will prepare students for success in their chosen fieldsEnsure the program is on schedule and the course content is covered in the specified time periodEnsure that existing and new classrooms and office spaces are equipped with the required resources and equipment to ensure teaching and learning opportunities are maximized, as well as, ensuring the maintenance of the site in collaboration with the facilities department or community contacts where applicableWork closely with relevant personnel and departments to ensure smooth operations, including academic calendar planning, internal and external appraisals, joint student recruitment/orientation opportunities, and joint workshop initiatives for instructorsAssist Instructors, when required, to ensure students adhere to SIIT's Academic PoliciesPrepare and submit reports to internal and external stakeholders as required; participate in graduate follow-up surveysLiaise with students, instructors, stakeholders and partners to provide explanations related to academic regulations, student records, programs and calendars while adhering to privacy legislation and SIIT policyWork closely with the Registrar's office on required and applicable documentation as it relates to the learner Initiate and coordinate program information and applicable formsPartnering & ReportingCollaborate with Bands, Tribal Councils and other agencies while strengthening linkages between SIIT and First Nations communities Work collaboratively with SIIT Registrar to ensure all learners are registered and credits are accumulated as applicableIn collaboration with the Dean, develop contracts and budgets with outside parties for programs and servicesDevelop, promote and maintain positive working relationships with Bands, Industry, Tribal Councils, FSIN, funding institutions, and other institutes and partners, in order to meet community, professional, development and educational needsInvestigate and report on potential external relationships and opportunities including partnerships that could benefit the departmentResource AllocationDevelop and monitor budgets for all programs as requestedEnsure sufficient resources are available to deliver the trainingApprove all contracts prior to the commencement of the trainingAuthorize purchase orders pertaining to the programsApprove and authorize invoices and expenses for paymentEnsure resources are allocated in accordance with the financial planning and operating budgetPeople Management & LeadershipCoach, train and develop direct reports to ensure their growth and developmentConduct regular reviews with direct reports; ensure adherence to SIIT policies and proceduresEnsure a positive, diverse, and inclusive work and learning environmentAssist in building and leading the department through employee selectionWork collaboratively with administration, instructors, and students to provide support services and cultural activities for studentsAttend and positively contribute during staff, department, and Institute meetingsAdhere to and promote academic regulations and SIIT policies and proceduresFoster a positive, collaborative and professional working relationship among students, faculty, colleagues and partners across the InstituteStudent FocusBuild and maintain positive relationships with studentsImplement conflict resolution strategies and monitor effective student retention strategiesMonitor student attendance, report as required, and implement disciplinary action as per SIIT policy and proceduresMaintain classroom, shop and laboratory discipline and, if necessary, recommend action to the applicable supervisor regarding student behaviour, including formal student disciplinary actionAssist in the recruitment and selection of students for all programsDevelop and maintain respectful relations through the use of problem-solving and constructive resolution of student issuesEnsure a positive, diverse and inclusive work and learning environment for all students Required Qualifications and Experience: A Bachelor of Education Degree with a minimum of 5 years teaching experience is preferred, or a similar undergraduate degree in educational leadership, science, psychology, or human services with relevant work experience. Experience in program administration and coordination will be considered an asset, as will demonstrated ability to develop, establish, and maintain good working relationships within First Nations communities. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Incumbent must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation as travel is required.
