Rocky Mountain School District No. 6 is searching for a continuing, full-time (1.0 FTE) Principal at David Thompson Secondary School . This educational leadership role is effective August 1, 2025.
David Thompson Secondary School (DTSS), located on the traditional unceded territory of the Ktunaxa and Secwépemc First Nations in Invermere, British Columbia, is a school of nearly 50 staff serving approximately 500 students in grades 8-12. Students come from feeder schools located in the communities of the beautiful Columbia Valley including Edgewater, Canal Flats, and Windermere. Living and working in the area offers exceptional recreation and leisure opportunities for all seasons coupled with other amenities supported by tourism to the valley.
In addition to core academic programming, DTSS offers a variety of exciting opportunities for students ranging from trade and technical courses to seasonal outdoor education, athletic, and arts programs. DTSS takes the well-being of students seriously endeavouring to support youth socially, emotionally, and culturally.
The District invites applications from candidates with effective teaching and leadership experience in a secondary school, a service oriented and student-centered philosophy, and a strong commitment to professional growth. A master’s degree in administration, leadership, curriculum or other related area is expected to be completed or in progress. The successful candidate must hold or be eligible for a BC Teacher’s Certificate issued by the Teacher Regulation Branch.
