As such, we are looking for candidates with diverse backgrounds and experiences to complement our service, as we endeavour to reflect the community we serve.If you are a current serving police officer and would like to continue your passion for serving in the community, the Ottawa Police Service could be the organization for you.Required QualificationsBe a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.Have their high school diploma or equivalent.Possess a full G Ontario Driver's License or provincial equivalent.Have their Basic Constable Training Diploma from the Ontario Police College or equivalent. If you are a police officer serving outside the Province of Ontario, a diploma from a recognized Police Academy is required (BC Justice Institute, Edmonton Police Service, Calgary Police Service, Saskatchewan Police College, Winnipeg Police Service, École Nationale de Police du Québec, Atlantic Police Academy or RCMP).Have successfully passed a probationary period with their police service or equivalent as set out in the Community Safety and Policing Act 84 (1) and (4).Preference will be given to candidates who have a minimum of 2 years policing experience.Be in good standing with their current or previous service.Hours of WorkMust be able to work all shifts as designated in the hours of work section. The incumbent is required to work hours commensurate with a 24 / 7 shift schedule in order to meet operational requirements of the section, including days, afternoons, evenings, and / or nights (including Statutory Holidays).In-Service TrainingSuccessful candidates will be required to attend the Ottawa Police Professional Development center (1385 Woodroffe Ave P building) for training. Officers outside the province of Ontario may be required to write a provincial qualifying exam.Application and Selection ProcessYour application must be received electronically through the applicant tracking system and must include : A cover letter and detailed resume (including work experience prior to policing, policing experience, courses, training, community engagement, and education).A valid fitness test from your service (issued within one year of your application).Valid Emergency First Aid and Level C CPR certification.A copy of your Basic Constable Training Diploma from the Ontario Police College or equivalent.The successful completion of any phase of the application process does not guarantee proceeding to the next phase.
