Job Description
The TIG Welder will prepare, tack weld and weld sheet, pipe and plate into customer defined configurations. The TIG Welder will use weld jigs, assembly fixtures and blue prints meeting all customer requirements. Welding will be done on thin wall materials such as Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Inconel and Monel. Material thicknesses are 0.012” – 0.380” and weld types are tube-to-pipe, sheet-to-pipe and pipe-to-pipe.
What will my responsibilities include?
• Produce acceptable welds per customer requirements
• Assess welds to ensure they are clean, free of error and in accordance with customer specifications
• Maintain good working knowledge of the welding characteristics of metals such as stainless steel, carbon steel, Inconel and Monel
• Lay out, measure and align metal workpieces prior to welding
• Read and interpret blueprints
• Responsible for selecting and installing torch tips and filler rods according to the thickness of the materials and WPS (Weld Procedure Specification)
• Maintain clean work station following 5S + Safety requirements
• Other reasonable duties as business and operational needs dictate
• Using required PPE required for the department

• Must be able communicate and interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization
• Requires English skills both verbally and written
• Basic math skills – add, subtract and knowledge of the decimal system
• Basic knowledge of computers
• Must be able to understand customer requirements and be able to make determinations based on the specifications and blueprint instructions
• Self-driven, Quality Focused, Work in a team environment, Capable of following instructions
• Good hand-eye coordination, Responsible and Accountable, Adaptability and flexibility
• Ability to function in fast paced environment
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of three years of TIG welding in the manufacturing or production environment
• Proficient in TIG welding of thin wall materials, focusing on Stainless Steel
• Experience with TIG Weld, filler rods, Rotary Tools and Turn Tables, Regulating gas flow and pressure
• Good working knowledge of all welding positions and instrument operation
• Requires working knowledge of measuring tapes – how to read and accurately measure
Requirements as follows:
• Be mechanically inclined and do all fitter/welder work
• Able to read and interpret Blueprints accurately
• Ability to cut and fit
• Minimum 3 years prior welding experience with TIG welding
• Experience in thin gauge materials an asset
• Fluency in English
• Testing of skill levels will be conducted as part of the hiring process
• Be able to work afternoons
• Education: Some college / CEGEP/ vocational or technical training preferable.
• Pipe fitting/welding experience required.
Additional Information
Shift: Days: Monday to Friday - 07:00AM to 03:30 PM or Afternoon: Monday to Thursday - 03:30PM to 1:30AM.
Pay rate: CAD 31.16 to CAD 33.16 per hour.
