WHAT'S THE JOB?
The Sandwich Maker is an integral member of the culinary team. Working night shifts, the Sandwich Maker prepares a wide variety of sandwich and specialty items to fulfill the bagged lunch program. The Sandwich Maker will work with culinary leads to present attractive and well-prepared products each day. This posting is intended to build a pool of qualified candidates for future opportunities. Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis as positions become available.
The position involves a remote work lifestyle in a Nunavut camp setting with the following amenities:
- All meals and accommodations are provided
- Travel is provided to and from the site locations from a designated hub location in Edmonton, AB
- Private room with cable television
- Access to Wi-Fi
- Access to laundry facilities and detergents
- Access to a gym and common areas
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintaining a safe working environment at all times
- Providing excellent and consistent service for all guests using the KDR facilities
- Maintaining a clean and organized workstation throughout the shift
- Preparing all hot and cold items required for the daily bagged lunch program. Items include, but are not limited to:
- Deli and specialty sandwiches as per daily production requirements
- All preparations required for each day’s production (compounds such as egg salad or cooked items used for specialty sandwiches)
- Other required menu items as directed
- Ensuring that food safety requirements are being followed
- Completing all HACCP and Production logs as required
- Labelling and dating of all products prepared for service as required
- Removing all used pots, pans, utensils, etc., to ware washing area
- Performing end-of-shift cleaning, sweeping, and mopping of workstation
- Completing all weekly and monthly cleaning tasks as scheduled
- Removing garbage from workstation as required
- Receiving and storing all supplies (food, beverage, chemical and paper/disposable)
- Assisting with any other tasks as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- Current Food Safe certification is required
- Large-scale cooking in camp settings, banquet halls and/or hotels is a strong asset
- Previous experience in a sandwich maker role at a mass-production level is preferred
- Ability to commit to a 4 week on/2 week off rotation
- A team-player who is committed to providing client satisfaction
- Ability to pass the Drug and Alcohol and Fitness Test is required
- Be able to handle the following physical demands:
- Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
- Climb ladders or stairs
- Stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended lengths of time
- Perform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands
- Perform work with arms at full length
- Work with arms above shoulder height

Work schedule and remuneration:
Sandwich Makers work on a rotational schedule of 4 weeks on/2 weeks off. Site locations are in remote settings, requiring air travel to site from Edmonton, AB. You may be required to work nights, weekdays, weekends, and general holidays. Wages are paid on an hourly basis with a starting rate of $19.75
