• We invite applications for the position of Painter, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. The current rate of pay is $34.30 plus 16.3% in lieu of benefits.

Qualifications :

Grade 12 education supplemented by completion of the British Columbia Technical Qualification in Painting; coursework related to wall covering application and glass installation; minimum of three years current experience as a skilled tradesperson at the senior level, with a demonstrated high level of technical competency; competent in the use of all tools and materials used for the trade; ability to layout work, install and apply wall coverings; mix paint colours; and general knowledge of minor repair work; ability to perform a variety of skilled tasks in the construction, repair and maintenance of school physical plant and equipment; valid Class 5 B.C. driver's license and license appropriate to the type of equipment / vehicle being operated; meets the physical requirements of the position; ability to work independently and as a member of a team; excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Duties / Responsibilities :

Duties are performed under the supervision of the Manager of Operations or designate; normally receives general instructions only, which requires the exercise of sound judgement as to the method of performing the work; maintains a wide variety of interior and exterior building surfaces as required, finishes millwork and repairs windows and glass in district schools; assists in all aspects of maintaining district facilities, and to this end is expected to maintain a good working relationship with other employees; may be required to provide leadership to other maintenance employees; follows proper work procedures, observes all regulations pertinent to the work, maintains a good working relationship with other employees, and cooperates in maintaining a healthy learning and working environment; performs other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
