We are looking for Oil Sands Summer Student for the summer of 2026, rotating to Jackfish, AB. If you are an aspiring technical sales professional that is eager for an opportunity to work on strategic projects, we invite you to apply.

This is a 4-months internship with ChampionX Sales team, Internship set to start in May 2026.

What You Will Do:

  • Follow safety policies to provide a safe workplace for all employees and supports the guiding principles of Goal Zero to continually improve the area’s safety, health and environmental performance. Drive culture of safety; report safety observations / incidents.

  • Overview of oil production operations and how ChampionX technologies support cost-effective and safe practices.

  • Support the chemical treating program by performing and/or assisting Company personnel. Perform sampling, analyses, and testing of water/oil process streams and their conditions and quality.

  • Manage field chemical inventories at warehouse and skid locations.

  • Maintain chemical dosing rates.

  • Prepare and distribute regularly scheduled reporting and other reports as requested by other team members.

  • Participate in Company meetings as requested.

  • Work on strategic projects with direct impact to customer or district

  • Monitor chemical consumption and application effectiveness to ensure that all chemical pumps /injection skids are injecting as per target to deliver an optimized and cost-effective chemical treatment strategy.

  • Provide support while offloading bulk to field tanks during offloading top-ups.

  • Demonstrates safe driving techniques and maintains company car and equipment in a neat and professional manner

  • Present internship project findings to a panel of leaders.

Position Details:

  • Will require up to 100% off-site travel to customer site with supervision.

  • Candidate should reside in Northern Alberta

  • Rotational shift: 7 days on 7 days off. 12-hour shift

  • Accommodation and food are provided while on shift

  • Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.

  • Internship duration: May – August 2026

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary institute and have completed 1st, 2nd or 3rd year in:

    Chemical/Production/Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology, Chemistry or Chemical Technology, but open to other majors.

  • Proficiency with Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous internships/Co-op experience is preferred but not required.

  • Experience in oil & gas industry, chemicals, manufacturing is preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Must have the ability to Lift/Push/Pull/Carry up to 55 pounds chest high.

  • This is a safety-sensitive position, and the successful candidate will be required to complete drug and alcohol testing.

  • Must have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (Driver's Abstract)

  • This role requires individual to be clean shaven to comply with customer site policy and safety requirement
