is a delegated Aboriginal Agency that provides family support, guardianship, and caregiver services to the seven First Nations communities in the Northwest region of BC. Their strength not only lies in the words they stand by, but most importantly through the actions of their initiatives. They are guided by cultural knowledge, values and wisdom and supported with strategic governance by a First Nations board of directors, representing each community. They are looking for a Mental Health Clinician Team Lead to help make a difference in the lives of others. The ideal candidate will have strong listening and coaching skills, that can lead and manage the mental health services of the organization.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties :
- Undertake assessment and develop treatment plans considering the context of Indigenous history, beliefs, and practice.
- Provide individual and group therapy to Indigenous children, youth, and their families, including healing circles and other traditional ceremonies in collaboration with, and referrals to, elders and cultural healers.
- Monitor assessments and treatment plans, evaluate treatment outcomes and services provided, including pre / post assessment measures when appropriate.
- Supervise mental health team in Prince Rupert, Terrace, and each of 7 communities. Travel between each office and community regularly as needed.
- Provide high-level leadership in the planning, development, implementation, and improvement of the mental health services ensuring delivery of a high-quality service within defined timeframes and in compliance with legislation.
- Lead the mental health team as a whole and manage staff individually and collectively.
- Provide community referrals while consulting and liaising with community professionals.
- Conduct intake, assessment, treatment planning and discharge with children and youth.
- Liaise, advocate, and refer children and youth to other relevant and appropriate services.
- Develop and implement community-based programs that address the needs of community members.
- Have extensive knowledge of trauma-informed practice and critical intervention modalities, including suicide and other risk assessments.
- Develop resources to include holistic, spiritual, cultural, and traditional methods.
- Have a mature outlook on life and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary and multicultural team.
- Have experience working with First Nations individuals, families, and communities.
- Have the ability to recognize and respect all cultural diversity with an understanding of diverse Aboriginal cultures and traditional approaches to practice.
- Perform other duties within the scope of the position, as assigned.
