Candidates must provide proof of status as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student, be enrolled in a Cooperative Education program, and be scheduled to return to school in Fall 2024 to be eligible for this program.

About Us

The Department of Energy promotes the sustainable use of energy resources to increase Nova Scotia’s energy security, support job creation, grow the economy, and create social benefits. We work towards fighting climate change by helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We also oversee the development of marine renewable energy resources.

A key priority for the Department is to identify innovative tools and support research that will help Nova Scotian businesses and workers enhance their capacity to participate in the economic opportunities afforded by the energy transition, including providing a clear pathway for the adoption of clean technologies. Accelerating Nova Scotia’s energy transformation will help to meet the Province’s sustainable development goals, provide a pathway for the Government of Canada, other institutions, and larger customers to obtain renewable electricity for their operations in Nova Scotia, improve the competitiveness of Nova Scotian businesses, and support increased energy choices for consumers.

The Marine Renewables Division is responsible supporting these efforts by working to develop marine renewable energy resources, including tidal stream and offshore wind, to help reduce Nova Scotia’s greenhouse gas emissions, create jobs, and transition to a low-carbon economy. As an Intern in the Marine Renewables Division, you will collaborate on research, policy, and programs related to marine renewable energy and assist in administering the Marine Renewable-energy Act . You will work collaboratively as a member of an integrated, multi-disciplinary team and with other government agencies and external stakeholders.
