With a hands-on leadership team and a strong focus on collaboration, the company offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a progressive and growing construction business.

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role for an experienced safety professional who can strengthen company-wide safety programs, support field teams and drive continuous improvement across multiple active construction projects. Apply today!

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, maintain and continuously improve the company's Occupational Health & Safety Management System, including policies, procedures and safety initiatives.
  • Oversee COR compliance, audit readiness and the consistent implementation of safety standards across multiple projects.
  • Manage, mentor and coordinate Construction Safety Officers (CSOs) and other safety personnel.
  • Conduct and oversee site inspections, safety audits, incident investigations and corrective action plans.
  • Support project teams with project start-ups, hazard assessments, risk mitigation and high-risk work activities.
  • Deliver safety orientations, toolbox talks and training to promote consistent safety practices across field operations.
  • Chair Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee meetings and support ongoing worker engagement.
  • Monitor safety performance, identify trends and implement initiatives to reduce incidents and improve outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation, records and reporting through safety management software.
  • Collaborate with HR on injury management, modified duties and return-to-work programs.
  • Provide practical guidance to project managers, supervisors and field crews on regulatory compliance and safe work practices.
  • Conduct regular site visits and travel to projects throughout the Lower Mainland, Northern BC and Alberta.

Key Requirements

  • At least 5 years of health and safety leadership experience within civil construction or heavy civil infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of earthworks, underground utilities, roadworks or related civil construction activities.
  • Experience managing or coordinating safety personnel across multiple projects or active worksites.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing safety programs, conducting audits, investigating incidents and completing risk assessments.
  • Strong working knowledge of BC occupational health and safety legislation and COR requirements. Alberta experience is an asset.
  • Relevant safety certifications such as CSO/NCSO, CRSP, OFA Level 1 or higher, and COR Internal Auditor.
  • Experience preparing for COR audits and maintaining safety documentation and compliance records.
  • Familiarity with safety management platforms such as Salus or comparable systems.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to build credibility among field crews, supervisors, project managers and senior leadership.
  • A proactive, practical approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel regularly throughout BC and Alberta and work in active outdoor construction environments.
