Dispatch Planner

Fisher Transport Limited

Location: Milford. NS

Fisher Transport Limited, is a family owned business that specializes in the movement of bulk liquids since 1962. We are searching for a Dispatch Planner to join our team in Milford,NS. If you are a person who takes pride in their work and strives each day to grow professionally then Fisher Transport is the company to support that journey.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

- Previous experience either in a Dispatch role, or within logistics / transportation industry

- Knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work in a team based, collaborative work environment.

- Ability to prioritize in a fast paced environment, in order to make difficult and time sensitive decisions to support business objectives and customer needs.

- Problem solving skills, strong analytical skills, excellent computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office, attention to detail and effective time management.

- Previous experience working with bulk liquid transportation, Axon Transportation Software and E-Logs would be all be considered assets.

The primary duties & responsibilities:

- The Dispatch Planner is responsible for scheduling of drivers and appropriate transport equipment to fulfill customer order requests.

- Manage a team of professional drivers ensuring all company policies, regulatory and customer requirements are met and loads are scheduled in the most efficient and cost effective manner.

- Receive and respond to order requests from customers in a timely fashion and prioritize those for scheduling purposes.

- Monitor driver progress and update the schedule and customers as required based on unexpected changes

- Provide assistance to drivers as necessary for loading and unloading activities. Contact shippers and or customers as required to facilitate loading/unloading activities.

- Documentation of all customer order and driver trip activity in our Transportation software (Axon) necessary in order for accurate billing and driver settlements to take place.

- For border crossings, ensure all cross-border documentation is obtained and sent to the appropriate parties involved in ensuring our drivers and cargo can cross the border efficiently.

- Ensure all necessary transportation permits and other regulatory and compliance requirements are met for each scheduled load.

- Coordinate with drivers and the maintenance department to schedule equipment as necessary for planned maintenance and unexpected breakdowns.

- Participate and provide communication within regular management meetings as to the performance and other KPI’s relevant within the oversight of the role

Compensation:

Compensation will be commensurate with the qualifications and level of experience of the successful candidate. Fisher Transport offers a balanced, competitive compensation package that will include a competitive salary, with group benefits program and the option for company matched RRSP contributions within the group RRSP Plan
