MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Superintendent to join our client, a well-established civil contractor delivering complex infrastructure projects across BC. This is a hands-on Superintendent role with strong runway for growth, offering exposure to technically challenging underground utility and roadbuilding work while working alongside an experienced leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day site operations, driving schedule adherence, milestones, and critical path activities
• Champion a strong safety culture across crews and subcontractors
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to high quality standards
• Manage job costing, forecasting, and production tracking for real-time decision making
• Interpret contracts, identify scope changes, and mitigate project risks
• Coordinate trades, subcontractors, and internal crews to maintain efficient workflow
• Mentor foremen and support the development of junior field staff
• Collaborate closely with the Project Manager to ensure seamless project delivery
• Resolve site challenges proactively in fast-paced construction environments
• Support estimating with input on production rates, equipment, and resource planning
• Build and maintain strong client relationships
• Participate in pre-tender site visits and scope reviews

Qualifications & Experience

• 6+ years of experience in a Superintendent or senior field leadership role
• Strong background delivering underground civil utility projects, including:
  • Water, sanitary, and storm systems
  • District energy/heating systems
  • Earthworks and road construction
• Experience working in varied and challenging soil conditions (e.g., peat, running sand, glacial till)
• Proven ability to manage technically complex projects from start to finish
• Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline is an asset
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and construction project tools
