The Provincial and Demonstration Schools Branch is hiring Teachers of the Blind and Teachers of the Deafblind on an on-call/supply basis (pool hiring) at the W. Ross Macdonald School for the Blind in Brantford, which serves students who are blind, deafblind and/or low vision at both the elementary and secondary levels.

Daily rate: Supply Teacher – certified: $262.09.

Competition #PDSB26-133 – Teacher of the Blind & Teacher of the Deafblind, Supply, W. Ross Macdonald School, Brantford. Primary/Junior/Intermediate and/or Senior division qualifications required.

You will:

  • Provide individual/group programs of instruction for students who are blind, deafblind and/or low vision;
  • Develop Individual Education Plans including curriculum expectations and assessment;
  • Provide regular communication to parents regarding school and classroom activities;
  • Participate in professional development activities.

Qualifications:

  • Must be certified and in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT); candidates with a Transitional Certificate or pending OCT are welcome to apply;
  • Teaching Students who are Blind/Low Vision (Specialist) and Teaching Students who are Deafblind qualifications, or willingness to work toward them;
  • Appropriate subject and division qualifications for the position.

Abilities:

  • Proven experience teaching students who are blind and/or low vision in academic and/or alternative programs;
  • Ability to apply curriculum adaptations, methods and learning materials; proficient braille skills;
  • Effective classroom and behaviour management; ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.

Location: W. Ross Macdonald School, 350 Brant Avenue, Brantford, ON. Area of Search: OPEN.
