Compensation
Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds.
- Employees who do NOT hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $ per hour.
- Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $ per hour.
- In cases where additional duties are required as part of a Teaching Assistant’s duties, these hours shall be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate.
Duties
Reporting to the Department Chair (or Designate) or Course Instructor, the duties and responsibilities of the Course Coordinator will be in accordance with Article 22 of the Collective Agreement. These include overseeing the seminar/tutorial/lab sections for a particular course; coordinating Teaching Assistants/Lab Demonstrators/Marker-Graders and holding meetings with them; assisting in the preparation of marking schemes and coordinating the marking of course assignments and/or midterm, progress and final exams; and any other related duties as may be required by the course instructor.
Qualifications

1. Must have sound knowledge of any software (such as IntelliJ, Dr. Java, JCreator), which is directly or indirectly used within COSC 2P03 as outlined in the course description within the Brock University Undergraduate calendar and/or course outlines supplied by the instructor.
2. Previous Course Coordinator experience is an added advantage.
3. Must have completed COSC 1P02, COSC 1P03 and COSC 2P03 (or equivalents), and achieved the grade of 75% or higher in all
4. Must be familiar with Brock Java Library
5. Excellent at Java
6. Previous successful teaching/marking experience in computer science
7. Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner
8. Available during normal office hours for group meetings and labs
9. Available after office hours to provide general consultations
10. High level of interpersonal skills and effective verbal communication skills
11. Academic integrity and professionalism
