POSITION SUMMARY : Under the direction of the Director of Technology / IT Managers, the incumbent is responsible for the provision of end-user computer software support to schools and district staff. The incumbent will be an active member of the Information Technology team and will also assist with hardware and software troubleshooting for resolution, tracking of all calls received for follow-up reporting and may deliver basic training sessions.The work involves the performance of a variety of technical tasks under limited supervision and may involve adapting established policies and procedures. Sound judgment is required in handling new assignments and determining new work methods with new and / or unusual problems referred to the Director of Technology or designate. Work is periodically reviewed for quality of service provided and adherence to established standards of performance.SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES :
- Accountabilities include, but are not limited to the following duties : o Supervising and distributing work orders to Field Tech staff, transferring technical knowledge to themo Offering advice and ensuring basic functionality including password management, user management, basic backup administrationo Participating in script development and updateso Developing, updating and supporting desktop imaging, deployment, maintenance and troubleshooting for all OS platformso Troubleshooting of various hardware devices, and softwareo Importing and exporting user / group / computer accountso Testing and piloting new server OS in single and mixed environmentso Assisting in computer hardware and software upgrades and installation including ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of inventory and reporting variances from School District listso Analyzing and troubleshooting user hardware and software, minor network problems, identifying major problems and referring reoccurring, on-going and highly complex problems to the appropriate channels for resolutiono Providing support and administration of Active Directory and / or Azure AD object-based management, including GPO’s backup, migration and restoration of all Directorieso Providing support and administration of local security to login access, file system access, Microsoft 365 security and access to local resourceso Assisting and liaising with software companies regarding problem resolution and clarification of upgradeso Receiving telephone inquiries and e-mails from District employees and maintaining a detailed log of the nature and follow-up the inquiryo Maintaining a working knowledge of district operational / personnel policies related to the positiono Maintaining confidentiality in all matters pertaining to the district and its operationo Actively participating and aiding all areas of the Information Technology team; working on committees as required and offering input in all matters concerning operationso Performing all other such duties as may be assigned by the Director of Technology or designate.QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES : Successful applicants will have Grade 12 supplemented by completion of a recognized post-secondary computer technology two-year diploma or equivalent. A current Microsoft 365 Certified : Enterprise Administrator Expert or equivalent certification is required along with a minimum of two years Microsoft 365 administration work experience. The incumbent will also have :
- Considerable experience with various types of modern IT related equipment and platforms
- Proven understanding of networking (wired / wireless) methods, protocols and hardware (e.g. 802.x, TCP / IP, etc.)
- Proven understanding of general security access, server to server replication and networking trusts
- Proven troubleshooting experience and an aptitude for timely problem solving, analysis and resolution
- Develops and maintains Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune) policies, enrollment procedures, software packaging and deployment
- Working knowledge of all District server and workstation operating systems
- Working knowledge of proper safety practices and the demonstrated ability to work in a manner that recognizes personal safety and the safety of others
- Proven ability to express ideas effectively both orally and in writing with the ability to explain instructions or information clearly to others
- Proven ability to maintain positive interpersonal and communication skills with the demonstrated ability to contribute to an environment which promotes teamwork and customer service excellence
- Proven ability to work in an efficient manner, plan, estimate and organize personal workload, work under pressure and see assignments through to completion
- Proven ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, pushing, pulling and moving materials, equipment and supplies including significant levels of manual dexterity for the purpose of operating keyboards, mouse, hand / power tools and handling computer components
- Proven ability to make sound decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Ensures adherence to, and assists with the development, documentation, and maintenance of department processes and procedures
- A valid BC driver’s license
