Career Opportunity
Business Integration Manager
Markham

ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Director of Business and AI Integration, the Business Integration Manager owns the lifecycle of business capabilities, from discovering what users actually need, to shaping strategy, to driving adoption and measuring real-world value.

You'll work across Black & McDonald's diverse business lines (construction, utilities, energy, facilities management, service), ensuring that digital platforms and processes deliver measurable outcomes and a great user experience. The domain is infrastructure, but the work is product thinking, stakeholder engagement, and change leadership.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Market Discovery & Understanding
• Conduct structured discovery with stakeholders across roles and regions: not just respond to tickets.
• Build and maintain user personas. (e.g., field supervisors vs. project managers vs. approvers)
• Investigate why technology adoption succeeds or fails, and document root causes.
• Develop domain knowledge deep enough to hold substantive conversations with operations leaders.
• Identify process inefficiencies and propose improvements through technology, automation, or AI.

Strategy & Positioning

• Write problem-led positioning for the capabilities you own: articulate value without jargon.
• Maintain living business cases with problem, solution, benefits, and financials.
• Contribute to portfolio-level planning and identify cross-capability dependencies.
• Track capability maturity from initial stand-up through to full operational KPIs.
• Explore and implement AI/ML where it delivers measurable business outcomes.

Planning & Architecture

• Write outcome-focused requirements: problem before solution, always.
• Apply product lifecycle thinking. (concept → launch → feedback → iterate)
• Advocate for end users in every technology decision.
• Design governance frameworks that others can use independently.
• Contribute to enterprise architecture discussions and capability mapping.
• Ensure products are robust, secure, and compliant. (SOC 2, ISO 27001)

Execution & Platform Operations

• Oversee the lifecycle of technology platforms (e.g., Procore, ERP, scheduling and workforce management tools), ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Build deep, named partnerships with project managers, district managers, and field teams.
• Maintain governance documentation, SOPs, and review cadences

Launch, Adoption & Value Realisation

• Create structured launch plans with success metrics, messaging, and feedback loops.
• Ensure training and help desk teams deliver high-quality onboarding and support; monitor performance and drive improvements.
• Drive adoption in the field and in the office, track usage data, address barriers, remove friction.
• Own post-delivery value: track whether expected outcomes actually materialized and recommend scale or course-correct decisions.

Stakeholder Engagement & Change Leadership

• Build a broad network of trusted relationships across business lines and regions.
• Lead cross-functional change initiatives with clear purpose, outcomes, and measurement.
• Author polished communications calibrated to different audiences. (field, executive, technical)
• Navigate conflict constructively. Push back diplomatically, maintain relationships.
• Flag risks early with rationale and mitigation.

Professional Growth

• Ramp quickly in new domains. We value learning speed, not prior memorization.
• Seek and act on coaching. We assess this explicitly because we believe in it.
• Adapt your communication style to your audience in real time.

REQUIREMENTS

Required:

• 3–5 years in business systems, product management, technology enablement, process improvement, or management consulting.
• 3+ years in a leadership or managerial capacity.
• Strong analytical and process-thinking skills. You can map a business process, identify waste, and propose a better state.
• Working knowledge of product management lifecycle and governance principles.
• Clear, confident written and verbal communication across diverse audiences.
• Comfort learning new platforms and domains quickly, with structured onboarding and team support.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, IT, Product Management, or a related field. (or equivalent experience)

Nice to Have:

• Experience in construction, utilities, facility services, or infrastructure sectors.
• Familiarity with platforms such as Procore, JD Edwards, or similar ERP/project management tools.
• Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and their practical application in business processes.
• Experience working in SOC 2 or ISO 27001 compliant environments.
• Product management training or certification. (e.g., Pragmatic Institute, or equivalent)
• Experience with enterprise architecture or business capability mapping.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The expected salary range for this role is between $80,000 - $125,000 per year. The starting salary will be determined based on several factors such as the successful candidate's qualifications, including but not limited to education and experience. Base pay is one component of Black & McDonald's total rewards package. Total rewards vary by position and may include additional offerings such as group insurance benefits, pension plan, annual discretionary bonus, career development programs, and other HR programs.

WORK REQUIREMENTS

• Must have the legal right to work in Canada without restrictions.
• Occasional travel across Black & McDonald offices
• Successful completion of a criminal background check.

A NOTE ON APPLICATIONS
You don't need to check every box above. If you bring strong process thinking, genuine curiosity about how technology can improve operations, and the ability to build relationships across diverse teams - we'd love to hear from you. We value potential and learning agility as much as current expertise.

Black & McDonald welcomes and encourages applications from persons with disabilities. Accommodations are available upon request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the recruitment and selection process.
