About the Opportunity

Our client is a fast-growing, sub-$20M revenue technology services company specializing in cloud migration and emerging AI solutions. Reporting directly to the newly hired CFO, this Interim Controller / Finance Consultant will be a critical partner in stabilizing the finance function during a pivotal period that includes the organization’s first full audit and rapid enterprise growth.

You will join a lean but committed team that includes a CFO, Director of Accounting and external accounting and audit partners across the US and India. The focus of this engagement is on audit readiness, rebuilding core accounting processes, and supporting a future system transition. This is an opportunity to own a highly impactful cleanup mandate, build structure where it doesn’t yet exist, and leave behind scalable controls and documentation that set the company up for its next stage of growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead audit readiness efforts for year-end, working closely with the CFO, and external auditors to prepare for the first full audit.
• Review and clean up historical financials, including prior-year opening balances (2020–2021 onward) and 2025 transactions, to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Own and complete key reconciliations : balance sheet accounts, general ledger, intercompany, and payroll-to-GL by country.
• Investigate existing systems (QuickBooks for US, Zoho for India, Excel consolidations) to validate data integrity and resolve discrepancies.
• Strengthen accrual accounting practices, correcting improperly recorded entries and ensuring appropriate cut‑off and classification.
• Identify and remediate control gaps, including missing documentation, unsupported expenses, and lack of review processes.
• Build and document standard month‑end close procedures, including checklists, schedules, and review controls.
• Partner with business leaders to obtain missing backup (e.g., receipts, support for credit card transactions) and clarify transaction treatment.
• Support tax compliance efforts, including state tax setup and ongoing administrative tasks within an established framework.
• Prepare clear schedules, files, and narratives for auditors and create a well‑organized audit package.
• Provide knowledge transfer, training, and documentation to the internal finance team to ensure sustainability post‑engagement.
