This course is scheduled to be delivered at Gravenhurst High School. Specific duties include, but are not limited to : Delivers the FOSR1018 - Basic Baking and Pastry Skills course in the dual credit program. Students develop the fundamental skills and techniques of baking and pastry. Students produce a variety of baked goods and pastry items. Emphasis is placed on the foundations of essential skills and knowledge required to contribute as an effective team member in a professional kitchen.
- Developing and delivering appropriate curriculum to meet course objectives
- Incorporating a variety of teaching / learning strategies to meet student needs
- Evaluating student progress / achievement
- Participating in program and college activities as required
- Participating in program revision and renewal activities as required
- Creating and maintaining a positive learning environment QUALIFICATIONS :
- Diploma in Culinary Management or Red Seal Apprentice
- Minimum of 5 years experience in the culinary field at a chef or Executive Chef level
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to life-long learning
- Proven ability to work in a team environment and to foster the same in students
- Experience in some or all the following is an asset : curriculum development, a variety of delivery strategies, adult learning methodologies, academic advising, and student success strategies
- Computer literacy : MS Office along with a high comfort level with learning new software such as student learning management systems and various teaching delivery applications.
- Teaching and Training Adults certification and / or experience in a teaching or training capacity is an asset
- Previous experience teaching high school aged youth is an asset Acceptable proof of education (degrees, credentials) from recognized post-secondary institutions or confirmation of international equivalencies will be required as part of the selection process.
