Job Summary
Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing programs to ensure workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental sustainability. This role drives continuous improvement, reduces risks, and fosters a culture of safety through training, audits, and collaboration with leadership and employees.

- Designs, maintains and leads the implementation of the local safety and environmental management systems.
- Leads SHE incident management and drives management of CAPA relating to documented risks and or incident follow up.
- Conducts SHE meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments.
- Provides site employees, contractors and visitors with guidance on health and safety and confirm project site complies with, industry, local, state / provincial, and national guidelines and regulations.
- Collaborates with management to develop an Emergency Action Plan and serve as primary contact for site SHE incident notification, investigation and case management.
- Integrating occupational health and safety imperatives with business decision-making and risk management.
- Advising on engineering and maintenance practices to drive improvement of safe systems of working.
- Drive positive SHE culture through but not limited to : embedding the 10 LSP's, 1-2-5 principle, Gemba safety talks and training, and putting Safety first demonstrated by consistent management behaviors.
- Ensure compliance is regularly audited and performance assessed and use the results to drive further improvement.
- Responsible for monitoring and measurement of SHE variables - SHE Scorecard.
- Master degree in Science or Engineering or equivalent industrial experience.
- Qualifications required by local regulatory authorities
- Project Management skills.
- Internal auditor or ISO auditor qualification a plus.
- Experience of Lean / TPM tools and ways of working a plus.
- Understand the requirements of relevant standard such as ISO 14001; ISO 45001 or OSHSAS 18001.
- 5 to 10 years’ experience in a factory-based role : Safety, Health or Environment role, Operations, Continuous Improvement, Process Improvement or Quality.
- Experience with SHE management systems and risk management.
- Experience with influencing behavioral change in a team / department.
