York Region District School BoardOntario, CanadaJune 27, 2024THE RENFREW COUNTY DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD requires aTEMPORARY GROUNDS MAINTENANCE WORKER (beginning immediately and until approximately October 2024) SCHOOL : Based at Renfrew Collegiate Institute Serving the Arnprior and Renfrew Family of Schools SCHEDULE : 8 hours per day (40 hours per week) 7 : 00 am to 3 : 30 pm POSITION SUMMARY : Under the supervision of the Area Supervisor or designate, performs a variety of grounds maintenance duties at various locations such as grass cutting, trimming, tilling, brushing and raking. Must be able to organize and schedule work locations in order to ensure all locations are maintained. Must be able to clean and maintain equipment. May be required to open, close and arm building. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE : High School Diploma or equivalent of Grade 12 and one year in the grounds maintenance field with a willingness to take responsibility. Must be dependable and reliable. Must be familiar with the operation of and be capable of using grounds maintenance equipment such as gas powered trimmers, lawn tractors and lawn mowers. Must be able to maintain this equipment. Must possess a valid driver’s license. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES : Must be capable of performing routine operating activities such as sharpening blades, replacing belts, greasing and changing oil, mixing gas and re-spooling trimmers. Will be familiar with operating a truck and trailer, securing loads and be responsible for keeping a daily inspection log of equipment. Must be capable of working in a safe manner to ensure the safety of all occupants on RCDSB property. Capable of assisting in unloading heavy supplies or materials and delivering supplies to storage or classrooms. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain excellent working relations with supervisory staff, fellow workers and students. Ability to follow oral and written instructions in the conduct of the job. Hiring will follow the requirements outlined in the CUPE 1247 Collective Agreement and the RCDSB Administrative Procedures.
