What you’ll do :
The Salesperson is a dedicated, customer‑focused sales professional specializing in appliances, electronics, and BBQ products. Known for delivering service excellence, the Salesperson provides knowledgeable, friendly guidance to customers and ensures every transaction is completed accurately with strong follow‑through. The role contributes to a seamless shopping experience by supporting multiple departments and maintaining a solid understanding of appliances, televisions, barbeques, and related product lines. In addition to sales responsibilities, the Salesperson assists with merchandising and general housekeeping to uphold store standards. Committed to living the Co‑op brand, the Salesperson fosters positive, respectful relationships with customers and colleagues, creating a welcoming and collaborative environment.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
Living the Brand :
Consistently represent and uphold the Co-op brand by demonstrating Gardenland Co-op’s vision, mission, and values in all interactions.
Act as a Co-op ambassador with a strong understanding of the Cooperative Retailing System (CRS) and the cooperative business model.
Sales :
Recommend products that align with customer needs, while seeking to understand customers needs.
Accurately process customer transactions in a timely and efficient manner.
Maintain strong product knowledge across multiple departments to support cross-department sales opportunities.
Assist with merchandising, stocking, and general store upkeep to create a welcoming shopping environment.
Build positive relationships with customers and team members while representing the Co-op brand with professionalism.
Handle warranty claims by following established procedures to ensure customer satisfaction and compliance with company policies.
Technical Aptitude :
Strong computer and numeracy skills are important for success in this role, along with the ability to understand product details and retain key information.
A willingness to learn and an eagerness to build knowledge are valued, especially for keeping up with new products, trends, and technology.
An interest in technology and the ability to use it effectively will be an asset.
Communication and Interpersonal skills :
Strong interpersonal abilities and an outgoing personality, with a focus on ongoing connection and engagement with people.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential, along with solid numeracy skills to support frequent quoting and costing responsibilities.
Work Environment and Miscellaneous Work Requirements :
Work in the warehouse, including operating the order picker and / or forklift.
Working at heights on the picker when required (not a core responsibility but part of the role).
Perform occasional heavy lifting and move merchandise (up to 50 lbs), with repeated lifting of 15–30 lbs.
Merchandise furniture and appliances in the showroom to create attractive displays.
Assist with outdoor tasks such as helping customers load products into vehicles and supporting seasonal merchandising.
Primarily work indoors in a climate‑controlled environment, with some outdoor duties as needed.
Standing and walking extensively throughout the shift.
Perform a variety of physical tasks including pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, squatting, and getting up and down from the floor.
Qualifications :
Valid Class 5 driver’s license. Must be willing to assist with deliveries on occasion.
Intermediate computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Assertive, motivated, and results-driven, with a strong commitment to ongoing development and learning.
Enthusiasm for exploring new products, trends, styles, and technology is essential, along with a drive to achieve and exceed sales targets and goals.
Ability to work with a team and independently, with a proactive and assertive approach to performing tasks.
Availability for day shifts, occasional evening shifts, and a rotation of Saturday shifts.
