Title : SSEDD Consultant

Reports to : Senior Manager, SSEDD

Department : SSEDD

FLSA Status : Exempt – Contract (9 months)

Location : Hybrid - East Quebec, Canada

Scope of Activities

Under the direction of the Senior Health, Safety, Environment, and Sustainability Manager, the SSEDD Consultant is responsible for implementing health, safety, environment, and sustainability programs. The consultant provides management, subcontractors, suppliers, and employees with expert guidance to ensure a healthy and safe working environment in compliance with all company and legal requirements. This role ensures that all personnel adhere to health, safety, environmental, and sustainability policies, procedures, and practices while supporting and promoting the organization’s values.

Responsibilities

Site Visits

  • Conduct site visits across operational locations in Quebec to support and mentor employees and subcontractors in applying health and safety regulations, both legal and company-specific.
  • Identify systemic trends impacting the organization and work closely with Operations Managers to establish priorities.
  • Develop strategies for appropriate corrective actions.
  • Serve as an expert in health and safety, offering high-level professional advice to field teams.
  • Provide technical guidance on procedures and processes to ensure contractor and employee safety and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Develop, review, analyze, report, and communicate SSEDD metrics and trends to the SSEDD Senior Manager and Operations Managers.

Program Development and Implementation

  • Support ongoing projects led by the SSEDD Canada team related to program development and implementation.
  • Other Related Tasks

  • Perform additional duties as required to support safety, environmental, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities

    This role does not include direct supervision of employees.

    Qualifications

    Skills / Knowledge / Aptitudes

  • Strong knowledge of Quebec health and safety regulations.
  • Experience in wind power plant operations is an asset.
  • Adaptability, flexibility, and a collaborative mindset.
  • Strong ability to generate buy-in and influence stakeholders.
  • Self-driven and proactive approach to work.
  • Excellent technical report-writing skills.
  • Effective communication skills across all operational levels, as well as with suppliers and clients.
  • Ability to present SSEDD topics to large groups.
  • Strong research skills to distill complex information into actionable insights.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • English proficiency is an asset.
  • Education / Experience

  • Graduate diploma in health and safety or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in health and safety.
  • Experience in wind power plant operations is an asset.
  • Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work at heights, including climbing and descending wind turbines (requires passing medical fitness and training assessments).
  • Capability to work in extreme weather conditions, including cold, rain, and wind.
  • Working Conditions

  • Primarily field-based, with time spent at sites in Quebec and some office-based work.
  • Remote work may be an option for administrative tasks.
