Position Start Date : January 6, 2025.

York University Faculty Association (YUFA) is the union representing 1700 full-time faculty, professional librarians and archivists and postdoctoral visitors. YUFA seeks qualified candidates to apply for a full-time position to perform the work of Coordinator, Accounting and Administration.

The responsibilities of this position include support to YUFA Staff, Officers, and the Leaves and Fellowships committee.

Accounting duties include liaising with the YUFA Treasurer in carrying out financial duties that include day to day accounting, accounts payable, payroll, financial schedules, release-time and expense reimbursements, and preparation of financial reports and budgets. The Coordinator also liaises with the York University Department of Faculty Relations.

Administrative duties include monitoring, reconciling and administering all bank, Canada Revenue Agency, Ministry of Finance and WSIB accounts, performing monthly accruals, monitoring email, responding to or appropriately directing inquiries, listserv ownership and maintenance, mail and courier, scheduling and tracking meetings and room bookings, arranging catering, updating the membership database, mailings, ordering office supplies, and reception.

A University degree, preferably BBA / BAS / BCom or equivalent, accounting and administrative experience, and experience working in an education sector union or post-secondary institution and / or labour relations setting are required. Applicants with equivalent education and experience, such as completion of the equivalent College Diploma or several years of related practical experience may also be considered.

Excellent oral and written communication skills required. High proficiency in Microsoft Office and QuickBooks Pro (or equivalent) are required. Experience with non-for-profit accounting, Mobilis (or equivalent) and ChatGPT / Copilot would be an asset. Candidates must be able to work independently and as part of a team; exercise initiative, tact and diplomacy, maintain confidentiality, demonstrate good judgement, and work effectively in a complex and fast-paced unionized environment.

The hire rate is $109,998.27 plus benefits (unionized work environment) and, upon the successful conclusion of a three (3) month probationary period, the job rate becomes $125,868.74 / year.
