The City of Abbotsfords Procurement department is growing and has an exciting opportunity available. We are looking for an experienced professional to join our dynamic team as a Buyer II . In this fast-paced and diverse role you will be responsible for completing purchasing work of a technical and clerical nature involving the procurement of a variety of materials and this role you will also explain policies and regulations to internal staff and to the vendor community. The Buyer II will also administer RFPs Tenders Contract and Direct Awarded procurements for low to medium complexity and risk items and services.

As the successful candidate you will have considerable working knowledge of public sector purchasing principles and practices as well as the ability to comply and maintain knowledge of applicable rules legislation regulations standards and best practices in procurement. Your strong communication skills will allow you to liaise with and assist various departments and staff on matters related to procurement. Your organization and time management skills will assist you with prioritizing a busy workload and meeting tight deadlines.

As our ideal candidate you will have :

Completion of Grade 12 plus completion of a recognized supply chain certification business diploma or a related discipline from a recognized post- secondary institution.

Minimum of three years experience working in a supply chain or an equivalentcombination of education and experience.

A valid Class 5 BC Drivers Licence.

This position is unionized CUPE Local 774 and the hourly rate of pay is from $34.43 to $40.51.
