Description de posteDrafts, reviews, negotiates, and finalizes a high volume of construction contracts , drawing upon candidate’s extensive knowledge of all AIA contract forms , typical client positions, and their impact on Shawmut and its business goals and practices. Drafts, reviews, negotiates, and finalizes confidentiality agreements, settlement agreements, leases and other agreements. Assists with legal issues related to subcontracts. Provides advice on various legal and procedural issues including scope, schedule, notices, changes, non-performance, insurance and labor issues. Develops and maintains positive relationships and communication with Shawmut staff. Acts as a liaison for and fosters positive relationships with clients and clients’ attorneys. Manages affirmative and defensive lien issues as necessary to protect the company’s interests. Is familiar with lien statutes and practices in various jurisdictions. Develops training materials and provides company-wide training on contracts, processes, and other legal topics. Experience : A minimum of 2-5 years of Construction Industry Law experience. Education : JD, member of any state bar. While Shawmut is headquartered in Massachusetts, the position is hybrid - 3 Days a week in the office to start in our New York office. Extensive knowledge of construction principles , practices, procedures, means and methods. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Demonstrated initiative, follow through, resourcefulness, efficiency and attention to detail. Strong working knowledge of MS Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to learn new software and applications. Ability to quickly learn organization structure and stakeholders. Ability to create a culture of inclusion and belonging by acting with courage, humility and curiosity; desire to learn about others and self-reflect.

NYC Base Salary Range : $175,000 – $225,000 The range stated is specific to New York City. Placement within the listed range depends on many factors including, but not limited to years of experience, project size capability (for Construction & Field roles) and internal company equity.
