Northern Lakes College has the following temporary position available:
Liaison, Continuing Education and Corporate Training
Salary: $60,996 to $80,700 per year
Location: Slave Lake
April 6, 2026 to February 24, 2027
Qualifications:
- Minimum two-year diploma or two years of university in a field such as Business, Administration, Marketing, Project Management, etc
- Proven customer service skills
- Proven ability to effectively communicate
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Three to five years’ experience working in a related occupation, preferably with oversite of operational processes/systems or within an educational institution
- Criminal record check vulnerable sector
- A combination of education, training and experience may be considered
Additional Qualifications Suggested:
- Knowledge of Agresso or other similar data management systems
- Experience achieving team and project goals
- Data input and analysis experience
- Sales/Marketing experience
Job Description:
Nature and Scope of Work
Reporting to the Dean, Business, Academics, and Regional Stewardship, is responsible for meeting the educational and training needs of Continuing Education and Corporate Training (CECT) customers through the delivery of relevant, timely, accessible and quality courses, programs and services which contribute to the strategic direction of Northern Lakes College.
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate Non-Credit Courses and Programs
- Identify needs at the individual, community, and company level and create quotes for private training
- Promote programs, courses, and services
- Determine an annualized schedule of non-credit courses to be delivered within a designated geographic area
- Identify potential instructors to deliver courses, determine costs of course delivery, contract instructors, and conduct evaluations
- Book delivery sites, if being held at a college campus, work with local College staff to promote courses, take registrations, access facilities, set-up of the course, clean-up and return paperwork, and ensure maximum accessibility of courses by utilizing new technology to deliver courses whenever possible
- Monitor low-enrollment courses and promote new courses
- Survey business and industry on a regularized schedule to determine needs and to build capacity, and answer specific questions that arise from curriculum development for new courses
- Collect and maintain current course outlines for CECT database and website
External and Internal Liaison
- Identify potential partnerships for deliveries
- Create contact databases for specific client groups (communities, services, etc.), manage contacts through follow-up, and update databases
- Sell educational/training solutions to organizations
- Provide input re-pricing strategies (group rates, discounts, special promotions, etc.)
- Work with the CECT team to provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external clients
- Attend Council of Community Education Committees (CCEC) meetings (on a rotating basis with other Liaisons) and selected Community Education Committee (CEC) meetings
Contract Oversight
- Oversee contract instructors
- Support the evaluation process vis-a-vis contract instructors
- Work with contract instructors on performance issues
- Recommend to Chair which instructors are not to be hired again due to performance issues
- Orient new contract instructors to the College and expectations of their role
- Prepare instructional contracts and service offerings for approval in Agresso
Development, Research, and Project Management
- Keep abreast of new developments in related workforces
- Identify trends in registration
- Forecast industry, commercial, non-profit, First Nations, government training needs based on trends, anticipated and regulation changes, and industry needs
Provide Input Re-Forecasting and Budgeting
- Assist in forecasting revenue and costs for programming annually and determining break-even-point for courses
- Provide input to the director re when courses should be cancelled due to low enrolments and when to take a “loss” for a course in order to gain future business
- Recommend pricing for training (bulk & individual) and monitor the workforce environment for emerging trends/changes
- Assist the Chair to monitor/review numbers regularly (enrolments, revenue, costs) and contribute to a fully leveraged CECT budget through sound fiscal oversight of course delivery
