Responsibilities
- Performs updates & maintenance to the GIS data to ensure data integrity, currency and completeness.
- Performs entry of electric facilities into ArcFM using GIS and electrical standards.
- Provide GIS knowledge, support & QA/ QC.
- Performs GIS spatial analyses and support for internal departments such as Engineering, System Planning, Marketing, Customer Service, Operations, Planning & Design, PULS, and others as required.
- Interacts with external agencies such as BC1Call, ICI Society, and local, provincial governments and external clients to facilitate data exchange and sharing.
- Assist in the assessment of the quality of digital data sources being considered for importation into the GIS system by evaluating the information for adherence to prevailing provincial geomatics and company standards, and facilities information for correct topology/connectivity for GIS applications.
- Maintains working knowledge of the sources of available digital data such as GeoBC, ICI Society Local Governments and third parties.
- Utilizes FME server and desktop workspaces for the manipulation, enhancement and deployment of GIS data to internal and external GIS data consumers.
- Occasional offsite visits to liaise with external stakeholders.
- Performs duties as assigned or requested.
Requirements
- Education: Completion of a recognized post-secondary, 3-year advanced diploma program in GIS technology or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum of two years directly related relevant experience in an Enterprise GIS environment (ArcGIS/ArcFM), including 1 year within the ArcGIS Enterprise environment (ArcFM Desktop &Viewer, Pro, Portal/ArcGIS Online, Field Maps/Collector, Survey123, SDE) 10.6 or later.
- Knowledge of the digital data ETL (extract-translate-load) software (FME)
- Familiarity in programming languages such as Python, Javascript and Arcade and visual modelling environments (FME and Model Builder).
- Advanced level of computer literacy in LAN management, database management, operating systems and programming. Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office and other specialized software in use in the department.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to share knowledge and skills with others.
- Ability to analyze problems and interpret and adapt instructions.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver's License.
