At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, more than 80 000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

Could you be the full-time Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Coordinator in Kingston, ON we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your expertise in Environment, Health, and Safety in an impactful and rewarding field. You’ll work alongside a skilled and collaborative team of professionals dedicated to delivering excellence.

You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with EHS regulations during the testing and commissioning phases of equipment and trains, contributing to a safer and more sustainable transportation system. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with permit offices, supervisors, employees, contractors, and the prime contractor, ensuring safety and environmental standards are met, overseeing work permits, and coaching supervisors to foster a culture of safety and responsibility.

You’ll specifically take care of conducting inspections and monitoring on-site activities, as well as providing risk assessment support to employees and contractors, but also lead accident investigations and implement follow-up actions to ensure continuous improvement.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Conducting inspections and monitoring on-site activities

  • Overseeing work permits and ensuring compliance

  • Providing support for risk assessments to employees and contractors

  • Coaching supervisors to promote safety leadership

  • Delivering EHS inductions for employees and contractors

  • Managing contractors and ensuring their readiness

  • Leading EHS committee meetings and broadcasting monthly toolbox talks

  • Investigating accidents and ensuring follow-up action plans are executed

  • Qualifying and monitoring contractor EHS documentation

  • Implementing emergency measures and first aid protocols

  • Taking immediate action to stop operational activities that pose high risks to people or the environment

  • University degree in Environment, Health, and Safety or a related field

  • Health & Safety Qualification recognized by local authorities

  • Experience in project-based environments (an asset)

  • Experience in the railway industry (an asset)

  • Strong written English communication skills

  • Valid driver’s license

  • In-depth knowledge of ISO14001, OHSAS 18001, and ISO45001 standards

  • Comprehensive understanding of local legal EHS requirements

  • Key competencies: teamwork, leadership, strong interpersonal skills, initiative, analytical thinking, and a commitment to continuous improvement

Things you’ll enjoy Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

  • Enjoy stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from boring daily routines

  • Work with new safety and environmental standards for rail projects

  • Contribute to innovative and sustainable transportation projects
