Job Summary :
Responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) policies and programs at Contract Pharmaceuticals Limited (CPL). Ensure compliance of CPL EHS policies and programs with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA) and corresponding ISO 45001; and the Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA) and corresponding ISO 14001. Adhere to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs). Drive a proactive safety culture by implementing and sustaining personal safety and process safety programs. Provide management, technical expertise, and direction to the EHS team in a manner consistent with company values to successfully deliver on company goals.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS policies, programs, and procedures to ensure CPL compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements (i.e., OSHA – ISO 45001, CEPA – ISO 14001, and cGMPs).
- Lead initiatives that integrate personal safety (occupational, ergonomic, personal protective equipment, incident prevention) with process safety, ensuring a holistic approach to risk reduction.
- Manage the EHS team and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement through coaching and collaboration regarding EHS practices and requirements.
- Partner with production, laboratory, maintenance, and engineering to assess hazards, conduct risk assessments, develop corrective and preventive action plans.
- Chair the CPL Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) and provides guidance to members on issues that relate to worker health and safety and environmental concerns.
- Coordinate and lead emergency response drills, ensuring readiness for potential incidents and emergencies.
- Monitor, measure, and report on EHS key performance indicators and issues; analyze results and initiate action to achieve company goals and objectives.
- Ensure adherence to cGMP requirements, inclusive of change control, documentation, and training assignments.
- Develop and maintain the post medical surveillance program in accordance with OHSA (ISO 45001) requirements.
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs to ensure awareness and compliance to requirements (e.g., CPL New Hire Orientation Training, Contractor Training, etc.).
- Oversee EHS incident reporting, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
- Serve as technical resource for EHS compliance and risk management.
- Perform Change Control impact assessments as the EHS representative in a timely manner.
- Responsible to ensure a continual state of EHS Audit Readiness, and to host and facilitate EHS Audits.
- Support GMP Regulatory, Customer, and Internal Audits.
- Ensure adherence to the allocated EHS budget and support the annual budget planning process for EHS initiatives (i.e., OPEX and CAPEX).
- Other duties as assigned.
