Overview

Join our team at Lafarge Canada Construction as a night shift Finish Roller Operator and contribute to the creation of high-quality asphalt roadways. As a Finish Roller Operator, you'll play a crucial role in the final stages of road construction, ensuring smooth and durable surfaces. This position offers an opportunity to work with cutting edge equipment and a dynamic team in the asphalt industry.

Responsibilities :

  • Operate finish roller machinery to compact asphalt and create smooth road surfaces.
  • Collaborate with paving crews to ensure proper alignment and compaction of asphalt layers.
  • Responsible for completing and documenting a daily pre-trip equipment inspection prior to starting the work.
  • Conduct pre-operation inspections on equipment to identify any maintenance or repair needs.
  • Adjust roller settings to achieve desired compaction levels and surface finishes.
  • Monitor asphalt temperature and moisture levels to optimize compaction efficiency.
  • Work in coordination with other equipment operators and labourers to complete paving projects on schedule.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including daily production logs and equipment maintenance reports.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate tasks and address any issues that arise.
  • Follow company policies and procedures to uphold quality standards and promote a positive work culture.
  • Regulate roller speed to ensure consistent compaction and avoid damage to the asphalt surface.

Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience operating finish roller equipment or similar machinery in asphalt paving preferred.
  • Knowledge of asphalt paving techniques and industry best practices.
  • Ability to interpret paving plans and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as required by project schedules.
  • Physical ability to perform repetitive tasks and work in outdoor environments.
  • Dedication to following company policies, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines at all times.
  • Note : The successful candidate MUST be comfortable working the night shift.
