Our client is looking for a Controller for a 9-month contract opportunity.

As a Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire financial operations of the company. This includes managing reporting processes, compliance, tax, and audit. You will also take charge of month-end close processes, balance sheet reconciliations, and working capital reporting. Your analytical skills will be pivotal in analyzing data from various databases to support strategic decision-making. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will play a key role in leading the finance and accounting team, contributing to team building, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and providing valuable insights and financial analysis to support company growth objectives.

About the Opportunity

• Own the month-end processes, ensuring timely and accurate reports and reconciliations.

Support, mentor, and lead Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.

Manage day-to-day banking operations and assist with cash transactions.

Review drafted reporting of US and Canadian sales tax by province / state, as well as corporate tax, transfer pricing, and reporting requirements.

Provide leadership, guidance, and coaching to direct reports (3+).

Take complete ownership of the Balance Sheet and review GL reconciliations.

Collaborate with Finance Business Partners and VP Finance in the forecasting processes.

Ensure thorough comprehension and practice of revenue recognition practices and compliance with accounting standards.

Drive database management and data integration efforts.

Identify opportunities to automate and streamline finance and accounting processes.

Effectively communicate and partner with upper management.

Participate and support internal and external audits.

Contribute to special ad hoc projects. New projects in 2025

About You

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business management.

CPA designation (Firm experience is an asset).

Thorough knowledge / expertise in accounting principles, revenue recognition, and financial reporting (IFRS / US GAAP).

Proven track record of leading month-end close, year-end audits, and process improvements.

Demonstrated experience with ERP systems and business intelligence software.

Minimum of 5+ years of accounting or finance experience, with at least 3+ years in a management position.

Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains and / or OpenAir is an asset.

Strong leadership and communication skills
