Pathcore is a remote-first biotech company specializing in digital pathology workflows and offering advanced image management solutions. Our enterprise software is widely used throughout the medical market to manage pathology data, particularly in support of drug discovery and research. We are passionate about developing software that makes a difference.

Pathcore has been at the forefront of digital pathology software development for over 20 years, proudly serving esteemed clients in the life sciences industry. Our motivation stems from a passion for creating software that truly matters.

We’re looking to bring onboard a Director of Engineering who will not only manage and care for our people, but who will also provide comprehensive technical input on current and future product development goals. This position will report directly to the CEO.

Responsibilities - What you’ll do day to day

  • Lead the engineering team, ensuring they have the resources needed to be successful

Performance management

  • Mentorship
  • Development and recruitment
  • Manage projects including setting scope, budgets, timelines, resource management, and fulfillment.
  • Align business goals with the company’s technical capabilities.
  • Research technologies and provide direction on how to optimize current and future projects.
  • Work with Executive Leadership to make decisions for operational activities and execute strategic planning and goals for the business.
  • Define and develop architectural plans for technical milestones.
  • Cultivate policies and procedures that work across our production and non-production systems.
  • Consult with clients – build relationships, discuss requirements, lend expertise.
  • Develop architectural road maps for our product development, with a lens of sustainability.
  • Plan in the big picture, looking ahead at the 2-year road map, while maintaining support in the day to day.
  • Support implementation and adherence to various compliance programs (ISO 27001, ISO 13485, GDPR, etc).
  • Act intentionally to not just oversee the department, but to grow it in a sustainable way.

    • Qualifications - Who you are day to day / What you need to get the job

  • 3+ years in a technical leadership position (people and / or projects).
  • 5+ years experience in various aspects of software development

    • React or similar JavaScript frameworks.

  • C++, C#, and / or Python.
  • Software licensing.
  • SaaS products.
  • 5+ years experience with cloud technologies

    • Linux / server management.

  • Virtualization (Docker, Kubernetes, etc).
  • Storage systems and backup solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with compliance and regulatory standards.
  • An understanding of the difference between leadership and management.

    • What gives you bonus points?

  • Experience in pathology, cancer research, or general biotech.
  • Experience with medical imaging systems.
  • A desire to explore problems from every angle and find the optimal solution.
  • A passion for technology.
