Rexel, worldwide expert in the multichannel professional distribution of products and services for the energy world, addresses three main markets - residential, commercial and industrial. The Group supports its residential, commercial and industrial customers by providing a tailored and scalable range of products and services in energy management for construction, renovation, production and maintenance.

We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Director of Finance for our Western Canada operations. This pivotal role will oversee the financial management of three divisions within Rexel Canada – Westburne West, Nedco West and investment done by Rexel in the region, ensuring financial health, compliance, and strategic alignment with our corporate goals. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of financial principles, and the ability to drive financial performance across multiple business units.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Financial Leadership : Provide strategic financial leadership to the three divisions, ensuring alignment with Rexel Canada's overall business objectives and financial goals.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting : Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting efforts, ensuring accuracy and alignment with business strategies.
  • Financial Reporting : Oversee the preparation and presentation of financial reports, as well as the preparation and participation of business reviews to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Performance Analysis : Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement, providing actionable insights to division leaders. Focusing on Sales growth, gross margin improvement and opex control for all the branches in the scope, including regular discussion with branch managers to help them drive their performance. Formalize in-depth analysis to follow Key performance Drivers and Key Performance Indicators set-up for the business. Supervise the commercial margin reconciliation done by the team, as key pillar of profitability.
  • Compliance and Risk Management : Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies, managing financial risks effectively across all divisions.
  • Team Leadership : Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Supervising a team of 2 Financial Planning and Analysis managers.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work closely with branches managers and other departments, including operations, sales, pricing, distribution center and procurement, to support strategic initiatives and drive profitability.
  • Stakeholder Engagement : Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including internal auditors, external auditors and regulatory bodies. Ensure of the implementation of any recommendations.
  • Strategic Planning : Contribute to the development and execution of long-term strategic plans, identifying financial implications and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or CPA designation preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, preferably within the distribution or manufacturing sectors.
  • Proven experience managing financial operations across multiple divisions or business units.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficient in financial software and ERP systems; advanced Excel skills are a must.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian financial regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to speak and interact effectively with management.
  • Excellent time management skills.
