Overview

Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centred clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position : Advanced Care Paramedic is responsible for providing accessible, responsive, and integrated patient care as part of a multi-disciplinary team. This role complies with Manitoba Provincial Regulations, Acts, and Shared Health policies and works to support mission, vision, values, goals, objectives and policies of Shared Health.

Location : Pine Falls, Manitoba. Department / Unit : ERS-EMS. Job Stream : Non-Clinical. Union : MAHCP. FTE : 1.0. Anticipated Start Date : To Be Determined. Posting End Date : September 5, 2025. Daily Hours Worked : 12 Hour Days and Nights + OC. Anticipated Shift : Days; Nights; Weekends. Salary ranges and EFTs : see details in posting. This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care to patients as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team and ensure compassionate, high-quality health care services.
  • Conduct professional, ethical behavior and align with Shared Health mission, vision, values, goals and policies.
  • Direct patient care in a full-time capacity with direct clinical opportunities as part of Shared Health work environment.

Experience

  • 3 years of full-time or equivalent experience providing pre-hospital care as a Primary Care Paramedic and / or Intermediate Care Paramedic is required.
  • A combination of related training and / or experience is preferred, including :
  • Competent in an Indigenous language and / or knowledge of Indigenous customs, traditions and values.

  • Experience working with individuals from diverse cultural, social and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Experience in patient relations and / or customer service.
  • Use of Shared Health ERS and Digital Health technology, software programs (e.g. EDIS), and equipment.
  • Ability to communicate in multiple languages; bilingual positions may require both official languages.
  • Competent in Windows-based computer programs.
  • Education

  • Graduate of an Advanced Care Paramedic program held by an accredited Canadian educational institution, or a College of Paramedics of Manitoba approved equivalent.
  • Certification / Licensure / Registration

  • Certificate of Practice with the College of Paramedics of Manitoba – Member in good standing, at minimum at the Intermediate Care Paramedic level.
  • Valid Class IV Manitoba driver’s license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), level C or equivalent.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS).
  • Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC).
  • Qualifications And Skills

  • Knowledge of :
  • College of Paramedics of Manitoba Standards of Practice.

  • Scope of Practice as documented by the College of Paramedics of Manitoba.
  • Manitoba Emergency Medical Response and Stretcher Transportation Act.
  • Manitoba Highway Traffic Act.
  • Shared Health protocols, care maps and related documents.
  • PHIA and other Shared Health policies and directives.
  • Physical Requirements

  • May be required to provide a Physical Fitness Assessment by an approved provider.
  • Required to complete a job-related written test of clinical knowledge.
  • Good physical and mental health; ability to travel by multiple vehicle types; exposure to high-stress and potentially infectious environments.
  • Moderate to heavy physical effort including lifting patients and equipment.
