Who - the Company:

Great Bear Carbon (GBC) is a dynamic, fast-growing and deeply purpose-driven organisation that manages, markets and sells carbon offsets generated by the largest Indigenous-owned forest carbon project in Canada - the Great Bear Forest Carbon Projects. Owned by 7 coastal First Nations and managing carbon offsets on behalf of 10 First Nations located on Haida Gwaii and throughout the Great Bear Rainforest, GBC sits at a remarkable intersection of environmental stewardship and Indigenous economic self-determination. Revenue from the sale of GBC offsets is distributed directly to First Nations communities for investment into stewardship and community initiatives.
GBC is a tech-forward organisation that seeks to implement strong practices and processes through systems, software and AI - and they are looking for someone who embraces that energy and grows with them. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to work that genuinely matters, within a team that is building something significant.
GBC's corporate office is based in Vancouver, and this is where you'll be based.

What - the Role:

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Operations Coordinator is a pivotal support role responsible for keeping GBC running smoothly across finance, administration, office management, HR and operations. This is a broad, hands-on position that touches a little of everything - ideal for someone who takes pride in being organised, adaptable and the kind of person a team genuinely relies on.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Finance support across invoice coding and uploading, monthly credit card reconciliations, processing travel claims and expense reports, updating budgets and cash flows, filing tax documents and providing support for the annual audit
  • Office and administration management including coordinating office supplies and equipment, greeting and assisting guests and staff, liaising with building management, organising meetings, appointments and travel arrangements, maintaining meeting records and managing digital and paper files
  • Board meeting coordination including scheduling, collating and disseminating board packages
  • HR support including developing onboarding and offboarding packages, supporting training coordination and processing leave applications
  • IT and subscription management including coordinating employee system access and renewing memberships and software subscriptions
  • Tracking GBC's GHG emissions and contributing to the development of operational processes and procedures
  • Supporting special projects and initiatives as they arise, including GBC's upcoming 15th anniversary activities

Who - the Candidate:

  • 2+ years of finance experience supporting and/or reporting financials, alongside 2+ years of administrative or office management experience
  • High IT literacy including strong proficiency across Microsoft Office and experience with financial management software, CRM platforms and AI tools
  • A genuine growth mindset - flexible, adaptable and enthusiastic about learning and evolving alongside a fast-moving organisation
  • Warm, outgoing and professional - this person is often the first point of contact for external visitors and a key support anchor for the whole team
  • Excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities with discretion
  • Experience with Indigenous organisations, knowledge or experience of Indigenous governance or familiarity with reconciliation frameworks is a meaningful asset.
  • An interest in or experience with the environmental or carbon sector is also highly valued

How Much:
Base salary of $55,000-$75,000 depending on experience. GBC also offers an outstanding overall package including RRSP with 6% employer match, competitive and extended health care coverage, 3 weeks vacation plus 1 week Cultural Family leave, 2 weeks paid leave over the winter holidays, a birthday day off, $1,000 annual professional development budget and $140 per month cell phone plan reimbursement.

Where:
Hybrid. GBC's office is located in Vancouver, BC. The Operations Coordinator is expected to work in office 3-4 days per week.

When & How to Apply:
Swim Recruiting will be presenting shortlisted candidates directly to the hiring team. Applications are being assessed on a rolling basis so please reach out as soon as possible if this opportunity resonates with you. The closing date for applications is Friday August 7th, 2026.
