Established in 1976 the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) is a First Nation governed post-secondary institution. Recognized under provincial legislation, the Institute has been conferred authority to grant certificates and diplomas. SIIT welcomes over 2400 students into our urban and community programs annually as well as serving over 6000 clients through our nine Career Centres across the province. The Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies is playing a significant role in Saskatchewan's economic future. You can contribute to that success while building your career. Nature and ScopeThe Survey & Data Officer plays a key role by supporting a broad range of survey administration, data collection, and communication initiatives. As an employee of SIIT, this position will positively promote and create an environment that demonstrates SIIT's vision, mission, and mandate. General AccountabilityThe Survey & Data Officer will work closely with the Data Analyst Manager and First Nation networks, government, and other stakeholders to help ensure the goals and objectives of the SITAG Indigenous Labour Market Inventory Project are achieved. The Survey & Data Officer will be responsible for coordinating and conducting various data collection initiatives. This position will support the organization and preparation of data collected from these sources to promote evidence-based decision making, as well as assist in informing programs, services, initiatives, and policies. This position will work closely with the SITAG communities to ensure that data collected are accurate, reliable, and timely. This position will demonstrate strong organizational and data management skills to support survey administration, data entry, quality assurance, and the preparation of written and verbal reports on internal, environmental, and strategic topics. This position includes the following broad range of accountabilities: Specific AccountabilitiesResearch & EvaluationCollect and manage data collected from various sourcesCollaborate with other team members to support data collection strategies and processesSupport the presentation and communication of survey findings to internal and external audiences as directedRecommend new processes and/or procedures to collect data, identify data issues and discrepancies to improve the accuracy of the data Assist in business plan, business case, grant writing, proposals, and other fundraising initiatives as requestedProvide input on opportunities and strategies to optimize client impacts that result through SITAG and SITAG network programs and servicesPackage and prepare insights from research and brief various stakeholders for keynote presentations, reports or any other relevant public facing activitiesResearch and collect data to determine future trends, training needs, educational pathways, employment needs, opportunities, and challenges affecting employers, considering the requirements for both First Nations communities and urban areas Reporting, Compliance & Administration Assist the department in developing, maintaining, and updating databases and periodical reportsContinuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of survey instruments and make recommendations for improvementsSatisfy new and evolving reporting requirementsAssist in preparing presentations and reports to internal and external audiences to support decision making and to assist with insight on various initiativesCompile and organize data related to clients, learners, and alumni for a variety of program and service offeringsHighlight successes, as well as, target areas of improvement and identify gaps in research and data findingsEnsure that work is coordinated so that strict and inflexible deadlines are metEnsure the strict confidentiality and privacy of information obtainedMonitor legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures applicable to reporting and operations to ensure complianceParticipate in designing and implementing quality control activities in relation to SITAG programs and services Relationship ManagementUndertake activities that will help to ensure that program and service plans are aligned with emerging trends, comprehends the needs of key stakeholders and remains responsive to varied environmentsEstablish and support strong, value-based relationships with stakeholder groups including federal, provincial and First Nation governments, the SITAG network, First Nation entities and industry partnersEstablish and enhance a network of strategic relationships with internal and external contacts, agencies and partners to facilitate and respond to new initiatives and institutional research opportunities, and to ensure that the research data and analytical needs of the research community are addressedEngage employees to identify potential issues or challenges in data collection methods and assist in developing solutionsProvide regular and effective communication to stakeholders as requested Contribute to SIIT's strategic effectiveness by representing and participating on internal and external committees as required Required Qualifications and Experience: A diploma or certificate in a related field, such as statistics, data analytics, economics or social sciences is required. Minimum of 1 year of experience in survey design and analysis, preferably in a research or policy environment. Understanding of research methods, including qualitative and qualitative approaches to data collection, management, analysis, and reporting is an asset. Proficient in standard MS Office products (Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data in a clear and concise manner. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Knowledge of First Nations cultures and organizations would be an asset. Incumbent must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation as travel is required.As this position is considered safety sensitive, the incumbent will be subject to testing as per SIIT's Alcohol and Substances policy.Required Competencies: Flexible & Adaptable, Effective Communication, Relationship Building, Results Oriented, Attention to Detail, Client Focus or Service, Initiative, Analytical Thinking.
