Your opportunity :

The Rotman Office of Recruitment, Admissions and Business Development (RABD) recruits and admits talented professionals who aim to push their limits, expand their creativity and develop their leadership potential via one of the School’s nine graduate management programs. The RABD

team will achieve this goal using industry-standard best practices in strategic enrolment management (SEM).

Within the competitive market of business schools, it is imperative that strategy be informed by meaningful data-driven insights to inform decision making about resources and programming, advancing the Rotman brand’s position within the global business school landscape.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Admission Operations, the incumbent actively supports the shaping of Rotman’s strategic and operational initiatives by : identifying key trends and reporting these to departments and divisions, measuring determinants of success and recommending relatedinitiatives, developing models and presenting to decision- makers, briefing Directors, Academic Directors and Managing Directors on research findings, and responds to strategic questions.

Working closely with various departments, the Data Analyst is responsible for data analysis, data management, research and reporting of important metrics that drive key decisions. This includes data used to inform recruitment and admissions planning, digital marketing strategies. The Data

Analyst is a key contributor to developing reporting systems and dashboards that give operational staff and leadership visibility to these essential business insights

Your responsibilities will include :

  • Producing complex statistical information
  • Analyzing complex data that requires great precision and attention to many details
  • Running queries to gather data
  • Developing and maintaining a dashboard for quick access to key performance indicators
  • Developing detailed reports highlighting data insights for various operational functions including recruitment, admissions, marketing, and career outcomes
  • Developing and maintaining information management methods to optimize the use of data
  • Understanding and use of different technologies to perform statistical analyses, including through regression models (e.g., Excel, Python, R, Jupyter)

Essential Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience with data management & analysis, preferable within a business school, related higher education or market research environment
  • Experience conducting statistical studies and presenting results in written and presentation form.
  • Experience designing and analyzing web based surveys, writing database queries to extract data from a relational database, preparing and presenting reports for senior management and working in an environment of multiple stakeholders
  • Advanced PowerBi or Tableau skills
  • Advanced MS Office skills (SAS / SPSS, Excel (Pivot Tables), Access, PowerPoint)
  • Advanced statistical skills and ability to use statistical software is required
  • Understanding of technology and the ability to articulate end user systems needs with IT specialists
  • Strong ability to clarify business needs and translate into technical terms and vice versa
  • Strong interaction skills : oral and written communication skills to explain complex statistical analysis to decision makers, probe for information to establish needs and respond to requests, and communicate data query requirements to others (IT, business units, etc.)
  • Effective problem solving and ability to judge whether results of data analysis “makesense” in the context of the business function
  • Innovative approach and an ability to work across teams to build consensus and infrastructure to support all programs and services
  • Strong numeric, research, and analytical skills with an ability to analyze complex data sets, identify trends in the data, develop new metrics and make recommendations based on data-driven insights that will support and inform recruitment, programs and career services strategies
