Job Description :

Our client is a mid size commercial real estate business. They focus on construction and property management of their own assets.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Work as part of the team responsible for the financial accounting functions
  • Prepare monthly journal entries, bank deposits, reconciliations and HST returns
  • Review monthly rent roll
  • Supply tenant analysis and statements of accounts as required
  • Reconcile and maintain various general ledger accounts
  • Make sure tenant charges and rental payment applications are up to date
  • Assist in reporting and analysis as required by Management and Corporate Accounting
  • Assist in preparation of interim and year-end audit packages and internal / external audit requests
  • Assist in preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting packages including variance and cashflow analysis
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts
  • Assist in preparation of statements of operating costs, calculation of tenant pre-billings and year-end adjustments
  • Tenant setup in Yardi and prepare lease analysis / memos
  • Support the Property Manager and Operations group when required
  • Other duties and ad hoc projects as assigned

Job Requirements :

SERVICE / PERSONAL SKILLS :

  • Service oriented with excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
  • Possesses a can-do attitude and requires minimal daily work direction / supervision
  • A team player who can adapt in a fast paced, deadline driven environment, cope with changing priorities
  • Able to prioritize tasks, work under pressure
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude
  • Possess strong analytical organizational skills, attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills

    • EXPERIENCE & TECHINCAL SKILLS :

  • Minimum 3-4+ years of accounting experience preferred
  • Knowledge of month end / full-cycle accounting for the preparation of full set of financial statements
  • Preparation / review of financial statements, cash management, budgets, audit working papers and tenant operating cost adjustments
  • Exposure to inter-departmental relationships within a large organization
  • Proficiency with of Excel is required
  • Working Knowledge of Outlook and Word is required
  • Working Knowledge of Yardi Voyager, and QuickBooks is considered an asset

    • EDUCATION / DESIGNATIONS / LICENSES :

  • University Degree / College Diploma in accounting is required
  • Working towards and Accounting Designation considered an asset
