MAKING AN IMPACT
The Content Specialist plays a key role in developing, maintaining, and delivering clear, accurate and expert reviewed cancer information across digital platforms. This position directly supports F27cancer information projects, including a financial guidance email series and the relaunch of the Cancer Basics video series. The role requires strong email writing skills, digital storytelling experience, and the ability to create and adapt content for social media and other public-facing channels.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
Develop and maintain digital cancer information content.
- Write compelling copy for a financial guidance email series, including audience‑centred messaging, calls to action, and content that meets privacy and consent policies. Research topics, review existing audience research and program evaluation to inform content planning and develop a content calendar for the Cancer Basics video series relaunch.
- Research and write other types of cancer information for cancer.ca following CCS content guidelines and plain‑language principles.
- Adapt scientific and clinical information into accessible formats suitable for email, web, and social content, or suitable for reuse.
Collaborate across teams to produce high‑quality multimedia content
- Work closely with editors, translators, graphic designers, and video production partners to deliver cohesive multi‑channel content.
- Ensure all content aligns with CCS brand voice, style guidelines, accessibility standards (including AODA), and best practices for digital usability.
- Provide subject‑matter content support for the financial guidance email series, visual elements, supporting materials, and supporting promotional assets.
- Help develop content for CCS social media channels to support cancer information priorities, tailoring messages for different platforms and audiences.
- Work with internal experts and external reviewers to validate content accuracy.
Supporting content delivery of cancer information in other formats.
- Provide content review for print, email, video, and campaign materials related to F27 cancer information initiatives.
- Contribute to cross‑platform content planning.
- Assist with analytics‑informed content improvements across digital channels.
- Contribute to our culture of diversity, inclusion, belonging and equity (DIBE) by ensuring that all staff feel represented, valued, and heard across all aspects of their identity, including gender, age, religion, ethnicity, nationality, race, and sexuality.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., science, nursing, health communication, journalism).
- Additional training or experience in copy writing, health communications, or content marketing required.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience developing health information, digital content, or social media content.
- Experience researching and writing health‑related copy for multi-channel delivery.
- Experience with component content management systems and other CMSs, email platforms, and social media content development.
- Familiarity with plain language, health literacy principles, accessible communication design and the needs of cancer patients and caregivers.
- Familiarity with SEO, information architecture, and digital content production workflows.
- Familiarity with AI‑assisted writing and editing tools (e.g., language models, grammar enhancement tools, content‑analysis tools).
- Excellent writing skills across formats (email, web, social, video scripts).
- Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to translate complex medical information for lay audiences.
- Comfortable using authoring tools, content management systems, and collaboration platforms.
- Organizational and multi‑tasking capabilities to manage multiple projects and timelines.
- Familiarity with the AODA Information and Communications Standard.
- Ability to work with analytics insights to improve digital content performance.
- English is required, French/Bilingualism (French /English) is an asset due to the organization’s nationwide operations.
