The Position : This is a position for someone looking to take their career to the next level. We’re looking for a hydrogeologist, engineer or geoscientist with 3 to 8 years or more of experience in environmental consulting or engineering. The position includes a mix of field and office assignments with tasks such as oversight of well drilling and testing programs, field investigations, data compilation and analysis, project management, and report and proposal writing. General qualifications include : - Bachelor’s or post-graduate degree in hydrogeology, earth science, environmental engineering or similar. - A desire to practice hydrogeology—groundwater and water resource management is what we do. - Professional status with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (P.Geo. / P.Eng.) or late stage in-training status. - Professional experience in BC and a strong understanding of the WSA, GPR, and MWR are key to this role. If you’re familiar with these acronyms, it’s a great sign that you have the level and type of experience we’re seeking. Western Water’s practice area includes groundwater supply exploration and production well drilling, well field management, source water protection planning, water licensing and groundwater impact assessment. We also support wastewater and stormwater projects where infiltration is involved, and work in the areas of dewatering and drainage. Western Water Associates : Established in 2011 by a core group of hydrogeologists, Western Water Associates is a growing employee-owned environmental consulting company with 17 full-time staff and offices in Vernon, Prince George and Victoria, BC. We have an established network of clients including local water districts, government, civil engineering firms, First Nations and industry, and also provide services to the land development and natural resource sectors. Actual salary will depend on experience, qualifications etc. You will have direct and frequent access to senior staff, professional guidance and mentorship, opportunities for professional development, both internally with one of the largest standalone hydrogeology groups in the Province, and externally. You can expect to work in a wide variety of hydrogeology areas including water supply, groundwater monitoring, flowing artesian wells, environmental impact assessments, wastewater and stormwater disposal. Location : This current opportunity will be based out of our Vernon head office in British Columbia’s northern Okanagan Valley.
